Is there a way that I can clean up fuzzy pictures?

Or grab irfanview ... for free and play around with it for a minute or so ...

I'm sure you can do a lot better ... I only goofed around with it for about a minute or so.

anything over 3MP and set on large pictures/high quality

not all pictures can be fixed in PS

Ramzey is right... I work in PhotoShop and have years of training in it (since v1) and there is only so much you can do with a crummy original.

It's not like in the movies where the detective says "can you sharpen that up a bit?' and the geek goes "tap tap tap" and suddenly you can read a license plate. Unfortunately.

The top picture could be color-adjusted a bit, but the bottom one is as good as it will ever be. Neither of them have any extra detail that can be brought out with processing, and that's what it's all about... having the detail in there to start with.

Here... not much better than what Mr. Bill did. This is about all you can expect from these originals.

Sorry to be a wet hen ... but that statement is just blatantly untrue.

All the colors and elements are present to make the photo a "studio quality" photo ... if one so desires. I will state here that the desire will take a lot of time and skill.

I used to edit photos for a magazine and learned to bit map way before any "utilities" were available. Utilities do not have the ability to "see" what is needed to remake a picture ... the same as point and shoot cameras do not have the ability to know what focal point, or shading is wanted by the photographer. They make a best guess, based on someone's idea of best for the most people.

One can create a photo out of "thin air" by bit mapping ... just as any artiest starts with a blank canvas.

I think that both of these pictures were taken with the little $7.00 disposable cameras ~ after they were developed I scanned them in. I guess I shouldn't be disappointed in their quality, but it's a stinker that two of my favorite pictures are the crummy ones.

Well, sure. One could go down to the pixel level and alter the photos, but I don't think that was the question.

That was exactly my point to Dux ... she just wanted the photo cleaned up a bit and we both showed her a way.

Dux then made a statement that nothing more could be done ... that statement was incorrect ... you have pointed out what Dux meant by his tap tap tap statement graphically ... but as you said, that was not the question.

It's all good y'all. I'm not breaking up a child porn ring or countering international espionage. I just wanted a picture of my handsome husband & happy sons to be a little bit clearer. *big grin* I'll work with it until I can't get it any better, and then I'll be satisfied that it's better than I started out with. I'm thankful for all of y'alls posts.
