X-52

Does anyone know if a X-52 replacement cable (throttle to jstick) is available?  I can't get Saitek to return my email about it.  It looks like a s-video cable, but I dont have a s-video cable to check.  I imagine the pin outs are different though.  Any help is appriciated.

Did you try calling them or posting on their forum? Theres always a few techies on their forum and I dont doubt they will tell you how to get a new one. And no, an S-video cable doesnt work. I tried it for you.

                            Other then that how have you liked the X-52? Ive had a lot of problems with my Saitek stuff. Never again for me.

Its great.  My aim has gone from 3% to 5%.  If you knew how bad my aim is, this is the equivalent of storch going from dieing in 4 seconds in a 1vs1, to dieing after 6 seconds.

I used Saitek exclusively till about 5 months ago. I never had a problem with them other than they last about 1 year. Now I am a died in the wool CH fan.

I liked the 52 for the most part, (programming it can be a pain) but the one thing that drove me nuts is the joystick itself feels loose.  It needs more tension.  I broke it once pulling out of a dive.  I guess I get a little rough with them.  I had a cheap logitech USB stick and it was great.  Just had too few buttons.  It was heavy, had good resistance to movement...never failed me either.  Gave it away.  I might go get another.  Still make them.  Wingmaster USB I think it was called...If the 52 had a stronger spring, giving a little more "tightness" to it, It would suite me fine.  If you like a stick that moves easy, it's ok.

I have an X-52 currently....sort of.....

I've had lots of issues with the Saitek stuff. I used the X-45 previously and their sticks seem to last anywhere from 3 - 6 months before something quits working.

The problem is so bad that I buy the stuff at Best Buy and pay for the extended warranty because I know it won't last.

My first X-52 the twisty feature started sticking in the on position after about 6 months or so. I took the stick back to Best Buy for a replacement and paid another 20 bucks for the extended warranty. That new stick, faulty right out of the box. I could rotate the main hat switch nps....but as soon as I used a button on the throttle (ANY button) in combination with the main hat, the main hat would quit responding.

I took that stick back and exchanged it for a new one, same issue. So I went to the Saitek forums to find out if some change had been made to the X-52 that would prevent the main hat from being used in conjunction with another button. No changes, bad stick. Shipped that one back to Saitek for a replacement. Replacement gets here and guess what? Same issue again. Third stick in a row that is bad right out of the box. Saitek personnel verified the stick I sent back had some sort of mechanical issue. I'm sending this one back to Saitek as well.

I already told my wife for Christmas I want a CH stick, for my birthday (2 weeks later) I want a CH throttle and next fathers day I want CH pedals.

I'm done with Saitek stuff as soon as I can get my dirty mitts on a set of CH gear.

I just started using it about 2 months ago (been playing for 2+ years without access to the hatswitch).  Since I've started using it I've actually been thinking of flying instead of just gvs.

That is a cool adjustment.  I fiddled with mine - seems like forever,  and the best spot I found was where it got kinda crooked, hung up I guess you can say.  The holding screw was between where you are supposed to lock it down.  I kept it there. ( No problems,  so far.)  

texasmom, for gawds sakes, go uppity up in anything!  Hey, I am horrible in anything with wings, but I still have a blast flying.  I am lucky my squad accepts the fact I'm not a "hot stick" but there the best bunch I've had the honor to fly with.  If anything, go to the training area if you feel uncomfortable in the MA, and check it out.  I'll meet you there anytime I can.  Maybe you can help me out in GV's.
It's all about having a good time, regardless of how good or bad.  Really.

I see your point.  Bummer your having a bad time Saitek wise.  Oh, the CH.  I see those every time I wander into CompUSA.  The ones that were copied from the F-16 flight stick?  $200 something?   Sweet.  Hope you get it all together, way cool.  (Tell your kids Mc Donald's is out of the question till you get your setup)   Hey look at the bright side- I'm stuck with a Saitek AV8R at the moment, so things could be worse!
