ew needs new maps .... this is getting boring
i hate lw bc there is no logic to it but, up a plane, travel across map,get a kill and get hoed ( where is fun there ) or run into a hoard
mid war is ok but same maps as ew, but with an extra map, that i see once a month, and it is so messed up that i cant even play it and have fun on it.

now i  pay my 15 bucs a month, why cant we have new maps in ew?

Kinda getting old

i come here to have fun,so before the lw guys come here and say anything, i can give 2 chits you have your maps... stay there for all i care.I pay my fee just like you  guys.

All i am saying is ............................. EARLYWAR  needs new maps

FWIW.....

HTC wants bases in MA arenas to be a fair distance apart.  I'm sure there's a good reason for this.

However, the speeds of EW planes are so slow that there ought to be an adjustment, seems to me, in the distance between bases for the EW arena.

Mapmakers may be able to convert some of our fine AvA maps, but HTC approval will still be required.

Red, Tatour has been around for a while  (2+ years).  He just doesn't come to the boards that often.

Sir, my recommendation to you, start making them.

Yes I agree that both EW and MW need new maps. HTC does NOT have the time for this, this is a need that can be addressed by the community.

So get together, pool resources, and get to work. Once you have a product ready for testing contact HTC. I think you will find that if you are polite, and talk to them reasonably they'll take a look at your map. Then tell you what they feel needs changing and why.

And yes I agree with Oldman that for EW and perhaps MW the distance needs to be shortened.

To short and you can be drawing enemy puffy ack on takeoff from your field.

But certainly no need to fly 30 miles in EW to get to an enemy base.

if i am right you can make a map for the early arena with the bases at shorter distances apart.
The minimum distance before ack starts going nuts is 18 miles i believe.

if you want a new map draw out your idea and send it in to skuzzy. If he says that would work down load the teraain editor program and make the map.

ITS THAT SIMPLE

That is so wrong in so many ways Ghosth.  The maps do exist.  All they have to do put them back into circulation or allow some of the AvA maps to be used.  I pay them to enjoy playing a very good game and that is where is stops.  I thank them for it every month for the past 5 years, but I don't have the time to work for them for free or even if they did pay me.

If some customers decided to make some maps that is great.  It should not be a requirement of the customers to create those maps.  The way it stands now, I could spent the time to make a map only to have the requirements change a week after I am done and have it thrown away.

Where are those maps anyway?  Why not put them into circulation and let us decide if we like them or not.  Anything is better than nothing at this point.

The problem Dedalos is that those old maps are all way way out of date.
Yes some of the AvA maps could be used in EW or MW. I suggest you call HTC and suggest that. In fact I suggest that a LOT of people do so.

However on the old maps its not as simple as just dust them off and put them back in. The objects used were different, the whole game engine has changed over time.
To redo those maps means they have to be rebuilt FROM SCRATCH!

HTC obviously does not have the time to do this along with everything else they do.
If you don't choose to help, thats your choice.  However, if you want maps, fine, then take the time and give some back to the community. Map making is incredibly difficult, time consuming, and for the most part thankless task.

However the support is there with the CM map makers and the forums.

I'll say it again and I'll continue to say it, you want maps, go to work.
I think you'll find HTC more than willing to work with you if your reasonable.

Of course if you don't choose to do so thats your right. But in my opinion until you've spent months building a map you havn't earned the right to complain about the lack of them.

I earned the right to voice my opinion about the game the first time they ran my credit card through.  I give to the community as match as the community gives me. No more no less.  As you said, it is very hard to create a map is I would think it is easier to fix the old ones than to create new.

Do you have the same attitude with all your service providers?  Maybe I should design my own airplanes and flight models or that altitude applies to maps only?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one.  There are people who take, there are people who contribute, and there are people who only offer opinions or criticism.

You're a smart guy and a pretty fine stick and I think you'd be a valuable resource to someone who is making maps that fit the current software.  FAR better than me in fact.  Yet I have spent several hours flying, driving, and boating, on a map, for a friend of mine on a map he has created.

If you don't want to make maps, skins, etc, how about offering constructive criticism of the ones that are in the works?

Sure this is a retail product.  Your $15 bucks a month gives you the right to A) play it as is B) complain that the product doesn't meet expectations C) voice your public dissatisfaction of the product vs value or D) take your monthly contribution to HTC and find something else to play.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Its not that I don't want.  I have tried three times to create a map.  However, I have 2 little kids, a wife a dog, a job, etc.  i just don't have the time.  I help as match as I can, but that is all I can do.  How do you feel the people that did the new maps feel after putting in the effort to create the maps only to see them pull a few months after?  Someone took the effort to convert the uterus and the beta maps.  That effort could have been spent on the others.

In any case, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for some of the old maps back.  I did not ask for them to be done tomorrow nor did I threaten to quite if I did not get my way.  However, it would be nice to have them.  By the way, this is constructive criticism.  Telling someone to go create his own is not.

I have no idea what is in the works and as you know, if you dont agree with something in this game you are just a whiner.  Your opinion is only valid if you agree with everything going on.

So, its not that I don't want to give.  I just can't.  However, when you have problems with your ISP you ask for improvements don't you?  How would you like it if you were told to go create your own internet connection if you did not like their service.  Would you accept that?  HT does not provide a community service.  He is running a business and to be successful  he needs the input of his customers (even the bad ones like me).  He can then decide what to do.

If you notice, the go do it yourself came from another customer not the company.  So really, it has as match weight as my give me more.

So, what exactly do you disagree with?  You don't want more maps?  Am I the only one asking for them?  You disagree that the customers should not be required to do development work for free?  Are you saying that all I have to offer are opinions?  Isn't that what everyone in this thread did?  Are only the only acceptable opinions the ones that talk about how great everything is?
