Anyone still playing Eve Online?
« on: October 16, 2007, 10:28:59 AM »
Just before I left AH, some of us tried out Eve Online. I remember Sandman was 1.

Anyway, getting bored with WWIIO after 5 years and trying out Eve again. Been there about a month. Was wondering if any AH'ers still had a corp there.

Nope, I pulled the plug 5 months ago after playing for more than 1 year. It was fun for a while but it was eating too much of my time.

Have fun anyway!

(and before you ask, I gave my toons and stuff to corpies ;) )

I'm playing right now. Have a comfy home in 0.0, out in the eastern drone regions (G5K). No missions or agents, but loads & loads of 3xBB spawns and a pirate free playground. Easy to make >50mil isk an hour out there even in a little battlecruiser.

If you wanna come play, I believe my corp is recruiting. Ascent of Ages corp, Dark Matter Coalition Alliance. Just requires 3m sp & teamspeak. Fantastic corp deals on ships, gear, etc. Soveriengty 4, multiple outposts, and lots of player owned stations in the alliance's region. The only real requirement is when the alliance defense calls goes out, you drop what you're doing, hop in your PvP ship, and join the defense fleet (which rolls 60+ deep with capital & supercapital support depending on time of day). We also do roaming gangs which are quite a bit of fun.

I used to play it some time ago but the insane penalty for losing a ship and the very limited way in which you could get money back if you were a solo player (aka, pirate bait & 0.0 impaired).

I lost about 10 mill (all my money) in one of the usual gate-camping *******es and that was the last straw. I took me weeks to get that money and even though the ship was insured it would take me another week just to find the components to get my old ship config back (and losing a lot of money in the process) .. while my chances of gaining money were 0.

Not going back to the game unless they offer 150 mill incentive to returning characters. I was in a corp with over 300 people and almost all of them left for the same reason I did: penalty for dying is extremely harsh and the gap between new players and old players is insanely unfair.

On the positive side.. I did enjoy my friend-or-foe cruise tech 2 caldari stealth bomber with elec. warfare mastery. Nothing like a small group of these ships firing a missile volley and cloaking again with no need to target and lock your targets. :D

short version, I just don't have those problems in my neck of the galaxy. :) like I said, 50mil an hour, easy. You can make it in a completely t1 battlecruiser, w/o even using named fittings. So anything under 100mil is a throwaway ship.

It also helps to have an empire-based alt to do manufacturing, trade routes, etc. It's an easy way to multiply that isk and feed the never ending demands of a pvp char.

on top of that, i rarely, if ever, use t2 components or ships in fleet engagements? why? cuz it doesn't matter how big and bad your ship is, or how awesomely it tanks. 20+ guys lock you, you die :) better to just have a cheap investment, and buy insurance for it. my corp has some awesome replacement costs. I pay about 20mil in minerals for 100mil battleships. can't beat that bargain.

well indy, the thing is my char is 100% missile+elec warfare+stealth boat specialized. At best i can fly the caldari missile cruiser for my expendable ship ... but thats no fun :P.

And finding someone that sells the caldari stealth bomber for a decent price and decent availability is almost impossible. Making it worse is the dev's retarded decision to limit the amount of tech2 blueprints.. so only the insanely rich megacorps have acess to those ships and the solo players that train the needed skills are left out in the cold. Just too stupid imo.
