Thunder Storms, Night, Sunsets, Blizzards oh my!
I was flying Microsoft Flight Sim, and realized how different the game would be with some bad weather..
for one it would start some huge ground battles when weather was poor..
then it would be interesting to see how many aces could land those kills in a 70 mph crosswind.. ya know fun stuff.. reality

Missions were generally canceled due to bad weather.

We used to have wind... it was fun.  We used to have night... it was fun.  Now we have neither, I miss both.

Never found the wind fun.  Suddenly hitting the wind layer at x thousand feet and seeing the RoC raise / lower itself for the next 1000 feet then suddenly going back to normal......ruined the immersion for me.

But using the wind layer at your back to get to your target faster, and having to remember to get back below it before dropping bombs, or trying to adjust for the wind during bombing added a little imemrsion for me.

it would have been better if the wind direction/velocity/and height was random and changed from time to time, but atleast we had it.  Normal layer was up around 15k (if I remember correctly), so alot of people never even knew it existed

Yeh i like this really much!

(srry if i bring the topic again up)

Would be great, Nights i was really thinking where do the nights stay?
At night you can do huge bombing operations, and it would be fun with the searchlights going form left to right searching in air

please bring some weather stuff in it :)

I'd LOVE to see nights, the searchlight idea sounds awesome, I never even thought of that one, I was just thinking the icon would be enough for most purposes.
The only real bummer would be the huge increase of CFIT induced whining that will flood 200 and inevitably the boards.
I do believe that there did used to be a night, but HT changed it after negative responses.
We did have a night on Xmas eve where we got a chance to hunt Santa.
Here's a thought, how about playing with the clouds a little? I've never seen any really dense stuff that hides mountains and such yet....  Just imagine returning from a successful hunt only to run into some cumulogranite 5 miles from base because you forgot the height of the hills in those clouds.:rofl

There was full blown night at one time. And I was one of those that complained about it.

When we had it, there was no gamma adjustment in the game and night was pitch black. Landing at a field was iffy at best if your monitor didn't have gamma adjustments because the fields weren't lit up by the moon like they are now. It was removed for that reason. Some people had gamma available on their monitors and would just boost that at night. Others like me didn't have it and suffered the consequences.

Now we have better lighting in the game (the fields are very bright at night) and the gamma adustment is there if needed. So, I'd be more than willing to try night for a while.

Clouds have been played with recently. I know on Baltic there are a couple of fields that get socked in and 3 ports on SmPizza get socked in by fog. There is a new map that Skuzzy has that also has an area that is clouded over big time. But, some people complain that they can't see. So this is an iffy area.
Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Nice but, i dont liek it that at night ppl will boost up their gamma, not fair makes game unfair.
its more fair when its night that airfields got lights on, searchlights when emergency9alarm) and just in air hold eyes good open.
At air missions will be more fun, more NOE sneaking missions.
High alt wont be seen so fast then
Noe will be so great then. can't wait to do a noe on night ;)

no different that some of the "exploits" already available (GV detail level and forcing default skins so the panzer appears tan on a green background)

I think that added immersion, and it just being something new and different would outweigh the negative aspects of people "gaming the game"

I hated night at first.  Pitch black.  Couldn't see a thing.  I was wondering how the heck you were supposed to play then I cranked the brightness up on my monitor and low and behold I became a terror of the night :)

I'd still like a night "effect", but one where I didn't have to play with gamma just to be able to play at all.

What I do miss however are those big dark storm fronts.  Dark and gloomy below, bright and sunny above and impenetrable to see through. I guess those are gone because they frustrated the bomber guys (fly forever to get to a target and you can't see it through the storm clouds).
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Weather would be good... Puffy Cumulis [sp sorry] below Full overcast limiting bombing and fighter ops to low level, crosswinds at ground level. Having these factors in certain areas of the MAs would make thigs "interesting"... I vote yes!
