I've tried a lot of different things, but I still am not gaining ground in my battle against CDSS (Crappy Deflection Shooting Syndrome). For one reason or another, my brain is just not reading the 3 axes of speed/angle/range to get the right solution.

Was wondering if some of you good shots (those annoying people who routinely hit in the 10-15% range) could post some films so I can jump in the cockpit and see what I SHOULD be seeing when i pull the trigger. If I can get a range of those pictures locked in, I expect I'll be able to add reliable shots angle by angle.

On the other hand, nothing else has helped, so this may be yet another exercise in futility by this 3D deficient gamer. :(

I know every gun has its quirks, but what I'm really after is the general cockpit sight line...I hope that once I get the idea, the refinements will come pretty quickly.


BTW, is there any way to turn cockpit off IN THE FILM VIEWER ONLY (caps just trying to get ahead of the flamers....) so I can see how far below the nose target is?

Personally, I'm a terrible shot. but I learned a few ways to help myself out.

-I set guns to converge at exactly 400m. even if they're nose mounted.
-I don't fire until I'm at 200
-if I can see the entire top of the plane I'm targeting, I put them just so he's poking out over the cowling that generally gives me a good lead.
-If he's a little bit to the left or right of where he should be, I kick the rudder a little bit.
-If at all possible,I exploit the other pilot's blind spots so they aren't expecting me, which gives me a more stable target and allows me to better predict his moves.
- when I'm diving on a plane, and he turns into me, I get a proper sight picture and fire at twice the range my guns are set to converge at.
