Bottom Dwellers

What is your definition of a bottom dweller?

In my opinion, one of the most contemptuous bottom dwellers is the real-estate developer.  The guys who scrape a pristine woodlot clean of vegetation, killing off wild cedars, red oaks, shagbark hickory, and other trees with real character, build endless rows of cookie-cutter McMansions, and then "landscape" their "development" with skinny, nursery raised trees and bushes that look as though they were cultivated for girly-men

The type of guy who cuts a twenty-year old oak in the front-lawn because it obstructs the "view" of a house from the street because said tree, according to them, makes it harder to "sell" the house.

This type shouldn't be allowed to breed.

I think that responsibilty dodgers and excuse makers are probably bottom dwellers in my book.  Usually they go hand in hand, as well.

Screwing up is okay ~ everyone does it.  Not owning up to screwing up sucks... blaming it on someone else or finding excuses to explain it away sucks too.

Fathers (or mothers in some cases) who do not pay their child support nor make any attempt to be a part of their kids life.

People who abuse animals.  I HATE cats but I'll cheerfully chop your head off if I catch you abusing one.

Wow.  I never called them bottom dwellers.  Usually just refer to them as satan incarnate.  But totally agree.

I grew up in (once) rural South Carolina.  The good old boy system coupled with developers have completely decimated the area of the Low Country where I used to live.

The story was always the same with catch phrases tossed out at ease...

'bring jobs to a economically depressed area'

translation:  truck in some migrant (illegal alien) workers to throw up some houses

'help develop the infrastructure of our county'

translation:  put a bunch of subdivisions on a two lane road to cause traffic jams

'increase the tax base'

translation:  bring a bunch of yuppies in who will vote to have higher taxes for all of us to get functioning sewer lines out to their McMansions

No.  What you're really mad at is that you did not take advantage of market demand, and make an astounding profit in the process.

I think it atrocious as well.  Not that they do it, but that people actually buy it.  Being a part of a small construction company, I don't understand why they do it.

There are far far worse people than developers and even politicians.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
