This one has my cool vote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyjxqr4O4Ug

Reminds me of a job I did at Dryden, every morning when I parked my car, it was by the XF-29 that is on display there. (Among all the other cool aircraft, too.)

Mikoyan.  Is he Armenian?  I know a lot of Armenians in Los Angeles.  I can tell that they're Armenian if their surname ends with -yan or -ian:D

One of the planes blowing up in the original linked film is from top gun... It's one of the F-5's (Mig-28) blowing up!  :)  It's around the 3:00 mark in the video.

But oh no, it's a totally original design and all the video footage is "in game".
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Mikoyan - certainly an Armenian, Artem Mikoyan, an airplane designer,  was a son of Anastas Mikoyan, old communist who was in politics since Civil War to Brezhnev's times.

I tried to joke about a "Chinese designer Mi-Ko-Yan" because I have seen too many CGI where they show MiG-1.44 (MiG-MFI) with PLA AF emblems. After seeing that film I don't think they will ever build it.

Only Western music in the Chinese fighter promotions?  Especially bizarre using Pirates of the Caribbean theme.  Maybe the tie-in is photo piracy?

Why a Plaice is so flat? - Because she had sex with a Whale. And why a Lobster has his eyes hanging outside? - Because he saw how it happened!

:D

A lame attempt to translate a Russian joke, sorry :)

No. It's a purely experimental, test-design. It's S-37, not Su.

IIRC first aircraft to get supersonic here was La-152, and there were three versions with swept wings, forward-swept and straight wings. Later it became La-15 light fighter built around RR Dervent engine.

I always hate this moronic comments at Moscow Airshow. This guy is hysterical.

Nothing better in performance then Su-30 [MK]

The New Chinese Jet Fighter: CAC F-10

Yea I'm pretty sure that's the one Iran is currently trying to buy from China. If I'm not mistaken, it's built with Israeli technology that was sold to the Chinese against the wishes of the US govt.

just looked it up and it is the one I was thinking of.

"1987: China obtained the cancelled Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) Lavi (“Lion”) fighter technology. The Lavi fighter development began in October 1982 under the help of the United States, and the aircraft made the first flight in December 1986. However, the U.S. was not prepared to finance an aircraft that would compete in export market with the F-16C/D and F/A/-18C/D, and a dispute arose to the final cost. The Israeli Government was unable to finance the project along and the development programme was finally cancelled in 1987. The Lavi technologies including its aerodynamic design and software for the “fly-by-wire” system were later transferred to Chengdu to help the J-10 development. With the help of the Israelis, the “Project 8610” entered full-scale development.

Would be ironic is Iran got some and used them to attack Israel.

What help from the US? Wind tunnels - I doubt it. In any other way Israeli design may be better then US.

Yes. Money versus defense.

I'm not going to elaborate about comparing  US and Soviet military doctrines, especially because ours degraded into "we'll-burn-down-the-whole-world- in-case-of-aggression-against-us-or-our-allied-states".

Do you seriously think Iran will attack Israel?! Iran isn't interested in attacking Israel, they have Arabs, their mutual enemies between them.

A common mistake: you Western people think that ideology prevails, like in your society.

The Ayatollah Khomeini declared Israel as an "enemy of Islam" He was Iranian.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, 'This cancerous tumor of a state [Israel] must be removed from the region.' He is Iranian

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "Our dear Imam (referring to Ayatollah Khomeini) said that the occupying regime must be wiped off the map and this was a very wise statement. We cannot compromise over the issue of Palestine." He is Iranian.

Of course the translation has been challenged by Mr. Arash Norouzi, an who proposes that the statement "wiped off the map" was never made and that Ahmadinejad did not refer to the nation or land mass of Israel, but to the "regime occupying Jerusalem".

So it wasn't Israel that was to be wiped off the map, instead it was Israel.

Another translation says Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem  must [vanish from] the page of time. so that means.... maybe... the destruction of Israel?

Iran's Foreign Minister (an Iranian) clarified the miscommunication saying,  "How is it possible to remove a country from the map? He is talking about the regime. We do not recognise legally this regime,"

So they are not talking of killing the dirt, only the people o not people, zionists.  The palestinians can live.

for not wanting to, they certainly think about it a lot.
