on the question of the HurriIIc
« on: October 25, 2007, 07:19:36 AM »
last night after a player (steak me thinks) stated on 200 that the 190 should be perked oldman commented that the fights were disparate between the fw190 and the hurriIIc.  I took the opportunity to point out yet again that there should be no place for that arcadish model in the AvA.

oldman retorted that it was there as a crutch for the noobs.  my question is this.  isn't the spit sufficient crutch for the noobs and the limpwrists?

I was accused of playing easymode because I have been in the 190.  is the 190 now the easymode ride?

I'm in the 190 because if I were in the 109 none of the poor scurrybunnies on the other side could hope for any chance of survival.  I think the 190 is the most challenging ride on the axis side.  where am I wrong here?

Ah, here you are.

I agree that the FW is the most challenging ride in this setup (well....with the possible exception of the lovely 202) - unless you fly it strictly as a b&z picker, which some people have been doing.  The Spit5, because of its ammo limitation and climb restriction, isn't in the same girlish class as the other Spit models.  I think the 109F is probably a bit superior to the Spit5 overall, don't you?  All the 109s I've seen flying have been Fs, not Emils.

What I meant with the "disparate" remark was that the Hurri is a slow turn fighter, while the FW is a fast energy fighter.  Because their envelopes are so different, the fights between them aren't as interesting as the fights between the Spit or 38 and the Axis rides.

I find the 202 to be alarming deadly if the player has the skill to target the opponent's pilot.  furthermore it climbs like a freightened angel and turns like an angry hornet.  at convergence it hits as hard as the 109F.  to me the 202 is the easiest axis ride after the gay6M.

in place of the spitV why not enable the seafire? the spitIX?

the hurriIIc is easy enough to hit and 1v1 or even 2v1 they pose no particular challenge but when it's every scurrybunny on the allied side schooling in a woobie with the odd P38 high for the pick it is simply no fun.

It depends on how you fly them Storch.  the spit and the Hurri has no choice but to fight their way out of every situation.  190s dive in shoot and leave the area.  Its what they do in the MA and what thy do here.  Once in a while one of them gets too slow fighting his country mate for the kill and the 'easy mode' planes kill him.  Then we see a post about easy mode planes.

In reality, the limp wrists as you call them will always be found high above you in numbers and in a 190.  So, yeah, I agree with you.  No place for the arcade play stile here.  190s need to be perked.

It works both ways. A 190 depends on the Hurri being aggressive to get a good shot opportunity. The Hurri depends on the 190 being aggressive to get a good shot opportunity. A purely defensive Hurri is very hard to hit in a 190 and a 190 that wont slow down is hard on the Hurri. If both are cagey it comes down to someone making a good shot on a bad opportunity. Sometimes the 190 can seduce the Hurri into roping himself sometimes the Hurri can hide his E or seduce the 190 into turning too long. It actually can be an interesting fight.

But all in all the Hurri is a much easier plane to succeed in because fights tend to   progress towards the Hurri's strengths - lower and slower.

Finally, a 190 B&Zer may suck but a Hurri B&Zer really sucks

When I see a high Hurri all I can think to do is stretch'em out make 'em dive. When they catch up make 'em turn a couple of times then skedaddle, get some distance, then start climbing. That's when they cry runner-come-back-turn-fight-my-hurri. I think: like hell I will.

I'd say the 38 is the dominant plane in the set. 190 is a B&Zer/E fighter by design...its either in its element or its not. If your in a 2C expect to get stomped on the head tail or face....I wouldnt give any chance or any quarter if I've got the E....if I dont i'd run till I do....then come back and stomp on em....

109F the best all around plane in the set though IMO...since 38 has piss poor gun views IMO...

I agree the P38 absolutely dominates.  however the fight between the P38 and 190 is good as is the fight between the 109E vs the hurriI and the P40 vs the 202.

this is an enjoyable and well matched set with the exception of the addition of the woobieIIc.  since usually only the weak players utilize it, it's disruptiveness is mitigated.

<----thinks the only 3 or 4 planes worth taking the time to fly in this setup are:
c202
P40E
bf109E
Bf109F

Kong,  The Hurri is really a helpless plane.  Two turns and its done.  Now if it has alt on you its a different story but that goes from every plane with alt.  Most of the whining about the Hurri come from players that are either new and the can't think in 3D yet, or vets who find that after 4 or more years in the game they still don't know what to do when they see one.

I've been called all kind of names in the AvA for taking a 109 vertical vs a hurri after the first two turns.  If you know how to fight them they are helpless.  If you don't, it is your fault and not the Hurris.

The main character of this whining has 61 hurri cherry picks in a 190 and has been killed by a Hurri 1 time.  Yet, he keeps whining about Hurris.   It seems to me he has no problems getting the cherry pick or the hard shot as you call it when the hurri is busy with someone else.  He is just hiding his dweebness behind a plane.  I'd probably do the same if after 5 years I could not fight my way out of a paper back :rofl

they weren't cherrypicks dedalot but they were fights in the vertical and a few against newer players out right turns but never more than two turns and extend.

you are correct the hurricane is easy to kill 1 v 1 or even 2 v 1.  it still does not remove the fact that the modelling is seriously nerfed.

I just finished a fight vs a high hurri.  by extending away and getting him co E I was able to out climb him reverse and get a good shot on the tail feathers.  that is what I usually do to the hurri.

thanks for the fights in there this PM.  I have them on film.  that was some brilliant P40 flying.   to your flying and to your smack.  it needs a little work though.  you should be able to do better.

Yeah, I don't practice as often as you do, :rofl

Since you have them, why don't you post them so we can see how easy you get me 1vs1.  I think they may explain why you need to be in a 190 and always come in second.  Oh, don't forget the limp wrist ones when I was in the Spit "hedging"  :aok

the planes are close enough that it usually boils down to the pilots

:rofl Come on. Back what you say for a change.  Post them.  Show us how I was hanging by the runway or having e advantage in every fight or what ever the excuse was after every one of your explosions.

For real though, I think it would be good training material for every one.  I think you should title them "How to die flopping around" or something like that.  Be creative :rofl
