California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill aiming to remove some of the few smoking exemptions permitted under state law.

While I can understand bans in places like office buildings,Hospitals and the like.
Banning smoking in such privately owned businesses such as bars and resturants, is rediculous.

A better solution would be to require all businesses that allow smoking to have designated areas or rooms with negative air pressure.
That is. Rooms where the ventelation system sucks air in as opposed to blowing it out.

This is the method used in hospitals to prevent the spread and contamination of airborn viruses outside of the patients room.

The choice should be in the hands of the business owners NOT the government as to whether they allow smoking or not.

better news for anyone involved in the cigar business.  what lots of folks may not realize is that there are whole regions of honduras and the dominican republic dedicated to the cultivation and processing of fine leaf for the cigar industry and it's primary market the US cigar smoker.  that tax would have put many villages on the way to our southern border.  furthermore it would give communist cuba an unfettered share of the cigar market because US producers would never be able to compete.
