Now that the first split tours are over
« on: November 01, 2007, 12:25:13 PM »
How did everyone like it?  How did you do (score-potatos)?  Did it make the difference you thought it would?

My take is that it was easier to score/rank.  I didn't have to get nearly as many base captures and since all my milk-running was always in the LWA's anyway it made no difference.

I didn't step out of the LWA's all camp and got my highest rank ever (30th overall).

I might have been able to improve my fighter scores a bit by using the EW/MW arenas if the tours were still combined but actually had one of my better camps there too (fighter... while not impressive I'll take a 4XX rank since i spent almost the entire camp in a 190A-8).

All-in-all, I'd say it's a big benefit in that it allows even more people to be able to make the leader-boards and feel good about themselves if that's what they like.

On the downside, I might never see EW and MW again.

One result is a huge loss in player numbers in EW.
Many people that came for score milking purposes used to stay a bit. Some more fighrs resulted of that, also drawn in where people that did like to hunt milk runners.

And as we all know, less player numbers in log in screen result in even less players deciding to take a look at EW.

After the first week, when word hadn't fully spread around about split score, EW had about 2% kills compared to LW. As time whent on, this number gradually declined day after day and now ended at about 1.3%. As this final number is the total tour average, you can clearly see that actuall player numbers have been a lot less in the last two weeks

Ya EW and MW lost alot of dweebs and they all came to LW arena (one with lowest # of people). It was easy to find them, they were the ones way far away from the battles hitting strats and fields from 40K.

I don't think I have ever seen the EW or MW arenas with more than 20 people in them at any given time.  In fact it is usually much less.  Just my experience.  I might actually go in there if there were approximately 60 or so players, but it has never been near that mark when I log in.

I liked it.

I'll admit it, I care about my score.  I try not to, but I do.

Before I was reluctant to head into the MW arena because I didn't want to kill my score by messing around in MW planes.  But, this tour I spent quite a bit of time in there since my MW score didn't impact my LW score.

I actually did better in MW than I would have thought.  I liked having the scores split because I could go into MW and 'goof around' with planes that I routinely get killed in in LW, and I could isolate those kills from my LW score where I'm all business.

I know this is utterly ridiculous, but I might as well be honest.

I actually found MW to be a very fun arena.  Smaller numbers meant that you could have a good 1v1 fight, kinda like a MA AvA environment.  And, there's some really good players in there, moreso than the LW MA it seemed like.

So, there ya go, my $.02.

BaldEagl my old nemisis:lol  Could you share your secret of how you could get such a high bomber rank with only 20 sorties? Kudos to you for your success this tour! Maybe you could share your insight into how the scoring system works! See ya in the LW arenas!

It's easy.  I fly AR234's exclusively (in formation) and hit strat targets only (primarily cities).  I can score ~400,000 on a good sortie, 200,000 on a bad one.

The 234's are so fast no one can catch me so I never die and I only fly C-47's for base capture when I KNOW I can get it done successfully to minimize the impact to my buff scoring (notice I had 1 ditch this camp... taxied a C-47 up to a town maproom then broke the stupid thing on a building trying to taxi back out after the capture).

The scoring system is simply the added ranks of the various sub-stats within the rank.  Whoever has the lower #'s ranks higher.

For instance, at overall rank level, the sum of your fighter, bomber, attack and vehicle ranks determine your overall rank.  In a fighter, the sum of your K/D, K/S, K/H and KH% ranks determine your fighter rank.

Nothing to hide.

Thank you for the valuable information, I fly alot of buffs and sometimes my impatience gets the best of me and I will sometimes bail after I drop ord to help out my squaddies or to re up more quickly. I'll try landing a few more bombing sorties this tour... maybe I can give you a run for your money!!

Pease excuse... I wasn't implying that everything wasn't on the up and up!:aok

I find it quite amusing when you find some <200 ranked dween flying a spit and its easy to smash his brains out. I did it twice the other night, I was quite suprised too. And I'm only average so these guys must really suck.

In EW you would have needed 107 base captures by goon to get #1...
