Friday night:Against all odds
« on: February 12, 2000, 07:51:00 AM »
The battle field was a moving current, Knights were outnumbered 32 to 18.  Our mission was to get 15 back.  Once launched, our dar went down, it was every man for himself, with Main field F9 under heavy attack, but we managed to take 15 right under the noses of the enemy.  Thanks all for participating, wish we would have had more numbers and airfields to work with, but ya gotta play the hand dealt to ya!

Kudos to Vulcan for helping with ack at 15 and to Chief, who flew right under the noses of Rooks to capture 15!

We of the escort crew faired little better. We were ordered to wait for 5 minutes after buff launch to launch. When I saw the radar indicating an enemy right over the buffs spawn point I decided it would be better to buy the buffs a little time than to have nothing to escort, so I called an immediate launch. About that time a 109 dropped on our field. I killed the 109 after a turn or two, but it was obvious the Rooks knew our plan and were intending to disrupt. We made our way from 13 to 10, but were again harrassed by a lone 190. He killed one of the escort and split off. I was flat-out WEP'd in my G10 and couldn't catch him!

Anyway, the Rooks were again trying to rule the world and had taken half our country, some of the Bishops, and knocked out our dar. The bombers had declared every man for themselves and had broken in the general direction of F15. I was still doing a lag chase on the 190, and since he was headed in the direction of our bombers, I figured he must know where they are. I was right. He led us right to our buff group. I killed two more, including an enemy B17. He smoked my oil though, and I ditched right on the perimeter of 15. I went to F11 to launch a c47, but the barracks and fuel had been wiped out. Yikes!

I hot-footed back to 15 in a vultch-mobile (Nikki. Hey, they disrupted our scenario, I grab another Axis plane  ). We arrive in force and get the base. There was an immediate launch to get 12. Here we met much stiffer resistance. I managed to get two acks, the tower, and 2 fighters before getting taken out (engine smoking, trying to get the low 190). From then on it was a push for 12 all night. Lots of good fights F9-F12.
