My view on this is that it would increase arena connectivity if the feature was implemented. If people were kicked for being idle in the tower for 30 minutes or longer, that's less people connected to HTC's servers and downloading updates of every plane's location on the map. This means more bandwidth available for other players. The only trouble is that once players catch on (with or without an explanation from HTC stating that 30 minutes of inactivity inside the tower will get you booted) they will simply spawn a GV before they go AFK.

However I feel that the advantages to this are greater than the current disadvantages.

Why they want to sit idle is beyond me?  But if they catch on and decide to spawn a GV at the furthest back base and camp inside the hangar, more power to them.

If I am AFK, it is because soemone has called and I can't ignore the call, or someone showed up to the house, or the baby is crying etc etc...  I have no problem being kicked, I actually wish I was if I were AFK that long.  I'm sure there is someone who would like me spot iont he capped arena.

Here's my two cents-I have a life outside of AH, and it does at times interfere.  I do go AFK, but usually 10-15 minutes at a time.  If I think it will go longer I log.  I have Atwittle'd for an hour or more a few times, but this is the exception not the rule.  I know this affects ENY and Caps, but I will continue to do so.  If it is ENY you are worried about, fly something other than the Uber rides, if it is the Caps your worried about, then login earlier, or be patient trying to login to the arena you are after.  This methodology has always worked since my first AH login.  I feel that if this was truly a problem then this is a self-policing situation to be handled by squadmates and the community itself, rather than a programmed timed dump.

Aw, come on now.  It's gotta be at least 30 min.  If nature calls, sometimes 15 is not enough time.  There are some things in life that shouldn't be rushed.:aok

Has it ever occurred to anyone that all countries have approximately the same % AFK at one time? Hence this kicking AFK people will have no effect on ENY.

And it would also have almost no effect on getting into full arenas because other people will just take the AFK peoples place, and the chances of logging in and having a full arena are still the same. In fact since you have slightly lowered the total people on line, you have increased the chances of not being able to get into 1 of the arenas.

We have a classic case of giving the players what they ask for, would have the effect of not giving them what they really want.

Or maybe this is some secret code for people saying they want ENY and arena caps to go away ?
If that was the case, you could give them what they really want.

-just a thought

Good idea... but.. it would have kicked out big groups in "der Grosse Schlag" scenario. :D :p :p

Great Idea but probably not as easy to solve as we would think.

Heh.
Makes them an easy kill :]
Once that base comes under attack (which there are random passerby's to everybase at least once a day :]) then theyre back in the tower and here comes a time limit...

I like the idea.
