Scared to death........Rattlesnake

Lol now you have me imaging getting bit by a rattlesnake (not that that is something to laugh about).  Oh well time to check my bed for snakes and then go to sleep.

Good night, and good story.  Glad it all worked out fine in the end.

PS:  I can just imagine the sick feeling you would have had!

glad you're ok Redtop.  I have been up close and personal(a couple feet or less) w/ rattlers, scorpions, even a gila monster.  By far,  the snake caused me to fill my pants the most. I can understand  why you were scared.

In AZ, playing paintball in the desert will cause you to have all sorts of interesting encounters.

Had a scorpion crawl across my bare foot.... snake is scarier.

You're OK.  :aok

Closest I've come to something like that, was I once stepped on a water moccasin when I was a kid. I actually saw it just as I was taking the step but I was already committed to taking that step. I ended up taking another bunch of steps real quick. :D

I was lucky though, because he has just caught a frog and it was in his mouth about half eaten. So I don't think he could have bitten me.

The craziest thing I ever saw on TV with snakes, was some show on Discovery. It was about burrows in Africa I think it was. This guy was crawling into burrows to explore them and map them out.

Well long story short one of the burrows had a cobra in it. The guy actually had to capture the cobra laying face first in this hole. Then he had the other guy he was with pull him out of the hole by his feet.

Was extreemly crazy.

Dang RT, I've seen them on courses but never had a scare like that.  They always say to watch out but I guess we get kind of careless taking a quick piss in the brush.  It'll make me look twice next time I'm playing in the desert lol.

Glad you're ok.

sheesh that almost sounds like the joke where the punchline is "the doctor says you're gonna die".  we have moccasins on our courses and they are also alarmingly prone to hiding in the best relief spots.

Wow.
Better you then me brother.

Next trip I bet your bag contains a new iron named MR machete

Musta been the day for near death experiences.
Yours is much more interesting then mine though

But I will say that if you ever have to put an extention ladder on top of one of those newfangeled composite (read plastic) decking.

Place it on a non skid mat.

Seems even the ladder is set at the proper angle. It doesnt mind at all sliding out from under you when your weight is at the top

Did I tell you it scared the watermelon out of me?

Wow, I've got to admit that I have never encountered one that big.

I stumbled upon one 4 years ago just walking down a path.  It was early evening and already pretty dark, and I could not make it out that well.  When I got close, though, that rattling sound that they make was very un-nerving, to say the least!  Boy, did that ever get my attention!!!

Unfortunatlely for the rattlesnake, though, he was not smart enough to be afraid of me, as I did not take kindly to his hostile attitude.  Six shots later ( with 4 finding the target ), he stopped his rattling, due to acute lead poisoning.

Here is a photo of him:

Would that be an S-Iron?

Red, I am so thankful you are ok. I grew up round rattlesnakes... was told to stomp the ground to clear them from a path... guess they feel ground vibrations or something and don't want to get smushed.

After freaking out that bad over a snake, how badly would you have reacted to having a cow fall 200 ft onto your car?

Maybe it's the last 17 years of military training speaking, but I figure getting threatened by anything deadly is just a good excuse to kill something :)

Good clean fun.  Rattle rattle hisss.... *whack*  :aok
