She found it!!!
« on: November 06, 2007, 06:56:10 AM »
Yesterday I received a call at work from my wife in an absolute panic.  She couldn't find a diamond and tanzanite bracelet that I had given her a few years ago.

She was sure she had either left it at a party we attended last Tuesday or at the hotel in Amsterdam we stayed at.

Even *she* couldn't understand why she had only just noticed it at that time, almost a week after we got back!!!

The problem was compounded because we travelled all day last Tuesday and went straight from the airport upon arrival back home to the Halloween Party.  There we had to change into our costumes and she thought she may have left it in the room we changed in.

Or someone had stolen it.

Or it was in the hotel.

Or she had left it on the plane.

Or or or

We were so tired at the party and afterwards neither of us could remember if she was wearing it when we actually arrived at our house.

Well, this morning at 2.30am I sat bolt upright in bed and was SURE I remembered seeing it on the island in our kitchen, and even remembered thinking she was going to lose it because stuff was everywhere.

So, this morning I was looking through cupboards in the kitchen and my wife kept asking if I needed change for the ferry.  We had agreed last night that we wouldn't think about the bracelet any more and that it was gone so I didn't want to get her hopes up in case I was wrong.

Eventually after about a hundred times of her asking what I was looking for I told her about my 2.30am epiphany and explained I was looking for the bracelet.  I had to leave but told her that we'd have a good search tonight AGAIN.

My son and I were at the ferry dock when she phoned to say she had found it.

I thought it was my three year old daughter on the phone because she was litterally squealing with excitement.

I'm relieved mostly because now I don't have to replace it to get my wife back....she would have dwelled on it for weeks/months no matter what we agreed.  She is so careful about her shiney stuff normally.

Anyway...happy happy joy joy.

It was actually in her jewelry "case".  The case is a chinese cabinet which doubles as a place for a woman to put her female items, such as bras panties etc.

The top opens and that is where she puts her shiney rocks etc.  One of us, it might have been me, put it in there but put it on top of a pair of glasses that the wife doesn't use anymore because she had the laser surgery.

The bracelet kind of wrapped around the galsses which were pushed up against the front of the case.  I personally looked in there 3 or 4 times already but just didn't see it.  It was only after I mentioned what happened last night to her that my wife decided to completely empty the case.

When she picked up the glasses, which we had both simply shoved out of the way when looking before, that the bracelet revealed itself.

You KNOW I'm getting some tonight...oh yes she will be mine...and she will be very appreciative.

i have a theory about little tiny worm holes opening up when you drop things sometimes, then  a while later they arrive back.

Have you ever dropped a sweet/candy/part of a model airplane on the floor in a room and theres only a table and a couch and its on a wooden floor, you look all over and cant find it.

then a while later there it is in full view in the most obvious place?

How can this be?

tiny worm holes i tell ya :noid

Or somehow it bends space and time and becomes absolutely and impossibly invisible, only to reappear when the space gremlins tire of it

I wouldn't be so confident about that. You looked in that thing 3 or 4 times without finding it... and then she was the one that found it (not you)...

But if I'm wrong, please don't post pictures to prove it. barf.

TM...it's already been confirmed as a "date".

She admitted she would never have emptied that cabinet if I hadn't suggested that the braclet might not be lost and that it was likley in the house.

I'm her hero atm despite the fact that she was the one who actually found it.

Also, she was so grateful that I didn't freak out and get "snarky" with her when she told me about *losing* it.  Instead I told her we were blessed with 3 great kids and that we should be thankful and not to worry too much about "stuff".

It's all good.  My wife is a happy camper right now which inevitably means I am also.

I don't know why but this thread has me thinking of a joke a buddy told me the other night.

A man come home from work one evening with a bouquet of flowers for his wife.

As he walks into the kitchen where his wife is cooking dinner he says to her, "Honey I haven't thanked you lately for being an incredible wife so here, these are for you."

She takes the flowers while rolling her eyes and says back to her husband, "I guess I'm going to have to spread my legs tonight huh?"

The husband replies, "Why???? Don't you have a vase???"

I'll do something but probably not the bread and cheese...simply because I won't get home until late tonight as I am preparing for meetings which are going to happen all day tomorrow.

TM...perfect indeed.  :)
