Yesterday I received a call at work from my wife in an absolute panic. She couldn't find a diamond and tanzanite bracelet that I had given her a few years ago.
She was sure she had either left it at a party we attended last Tuesday or at the hotel in Amsterdam we stayed at.
Even *she* couldn't understand why she had only just noticed it at that time, almost a week after we got back!!!
The problem was compounded because we travelled all day last Tuesday and went straight from the airport upon arrival back home to the Halloween Party. There we had to change into our costumes and she thought she may have left it in the room we changed in.
Or someone had stolen it.
Or it was in the hotel.
Or she had left it on the plane.
Or or or
We were so tired at the party and afterwards neither of us could remember if she was wearing it when we actually arrived at our house.
Well, this morning at 2.30am I sat bolt upright in bed and was SURE I remembered seeing it on the island in our kitchen, and even remembered thinking she was going to lose it because stuff was everywhere.
So, this morning I was looking through cupboards in the kitchen and my wife kept asking if I needed change for the ferry. We had agreed last night that we wouldn't think about the bracelet any more and that it was gone so I didn't want to get her hopes up in case I was wrong.
Eventually after about a hundred times of her asking what I was looking for I told her about my 2.30am epiphany and explained I was looking for the bracelet. I had to leave but told her that we'd have a good search tonight AGAIN.
My son and I were at the ferry dock when she phoned to say she had found it.
I thought it was my three year old daughter on the phone because she was litterally squealing with excitement.
I'm relieved mostly because now I don't have to replace it to get my wife back....she would have dwelled on it for weeks/months no matter what we agreed. She is so careful about her shiney stuff normally.
Anyway...happy happy joy joy.
