That's the great thing about AM radio that gets lost in the shuffle.

Distance.

While most AM'ers have gone all talk, a FEW music stations still exist.

Even with a make-do antenna, most 50kW stations are rock solid at night, many THOUSANDS of miles away.

Even 1 to 5kW stations are heard thousands of miles away.  One AM'er that was our FM's sister station in Tennessee was automated Country and I did all the sweepers and imaging.

I reveived MANY QSL confirmation requests from Sweden, Norway, & Finnish radio DX listeners.

On a cold, crisp winter night, click on the AM radio & dial around.  You will be surprised what you hear.

Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Ya know i never had the chance to hear one, but i remeber a B&W movie where they did one, used a big sheet of tin or something similar to make the sound of thunder and shoes on a  stool for foot steps.....

Its a pity that a lot of quality writing and acting has been replaced by special effects, bimbos, himbos and the same "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, girl gets kidnapped, boy meets intergalactic mutant ninja super hero, boy saves girl and looks good doing it" plots...

Yeah i know i am jaded, but when was the last time you watched a movie with a plot that had less holes than swiss cheese

I had a psychic girlfriend once, but she left me before we met

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive....  so, I took her to a gas station

I totally agree.  Half the fun of those great radio shows are that the folks are how you imagine them to look & walk & all that.

Where's the imagination in letting someone else do your thinking for you?
