Cant stop the warping
« on: November 06, 2007, 08:09:01 PM »
I've tried everything I can think of to make the game stop warping and my stick to hold course and nothing is working. I'm lost here. It's been frustrating. I've e-mailed hitech with my dxdiag and received no reply. I honestly don't know where to turn.
I've downloaded new drivers for my sound card, switched to using wave in. About everything listed in Skuzzys post. Nothing is stopping the on going warping and the joystick problems. I've calibrated, recalibrated and calibrated some more. I've adjusted the dampening and what ever else I could in setup.

Any help?

Did you try the power settings fix? Search for it, it may help.
Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.

I need to add that to the tips list.  If it is a laptop, you must disable any power management.  If you are connected via wireless on your LAN, turn off the monitoring of the connection (the LinkSys monitor uses up to 40% of your CPU power every couple of seconds when monitoring).

You may have a point. I had it set to Never and then set it back to desktop after reading another article I'll give it a shot. I may also see if there is a Bios update. It's an HP gaming computer Mid Tower. I wonder if buying a new power supply would help. I think this one is 480 or something like that. I've also tried the powered USB hub and am thinking about putting my like new Sidewinder FF stick back to use instead of the X52.

Man I was frustrated last night. I've been duking it out with this thing for about a month or longer.

I checked my power options and I already have it set to always on.

Thought that was a good idea though.

Any other thoughts?

Thank you

It is an HP?  Have you cleaned up the background processes?

Send me a DXDIAG output along with the options you have configured in the game's "Video Settings".  It very well could be resource issues.  I cannot rule it out without more information.

I've tried to cleanup the back ground processes. It has about 48 on startup, I can only get it down to about 39. I think the product I am using is FSautostart. It does not work very well. I have to tinker with it all the time to get it to work. My usage at desktop is between 0 and 2%. I have 2 mgs or ram and a 256 video card.

I'm not sure if this is a trend but it seems to get worse as the game continues. At first it is smooth and then it starts getting a little worse. However the game has never completely failed. I'm heading out tonight to pick up a new video card. Hope that does the job.

Any recommendations on a process killer? End it all use to be free. But I think they charge for it now. May be worth it though.
