What neoconservatives associate, infer or classify as "communist" is generally anything that ain't neoconservative. Which oft accounts for neoconservative confusion in thinking socialism is a form of communism.

:D

I guess the confusion is socailism is not a form of communism, it's that  communism is a form of socialism.

What is the difference between socialism and communism?

Socialism and communism are alike in that both are systems of production for use based on public ownership of the means of production and centralized planning. Socialism grows directly out of capitalism; it is the first form of the new society. Communism is a further development or "higher stage" of socialism.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his deeds (socialism).

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs (communism).

Of course adherants of Marxism believe that. Do you adhere to that? Does that make Arlo Guthrie a commie? :)

Who am I to tell marxists what they are?  They should know.

I have insufficient data to describe Arlo Guthrie as anything other than a  folk singer and a social activist.

One can be an advocate for social justice within the free market.

"Communism is a further development or "higher stage" of socialism."

I'm sure there's plenty who aren't Marxists that contest the above statement, socialists included.

I suppose the use of a period instead of a comma there was either a indignant protest or ironic humor.

On a global scale, wouldn't you consider the 1st of September 1939 as a date that was bigger?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
