North Africa scenario?
« on: November 06, 2007, 04:18:24 PM »
Has one ever been run?

I'm envisioning a base-capture event, with the Africa Korps on one side and the Brit/US on the other.   P-40E,P-38G, Spit V?, Hurri IID, B-25s and Bostons vs Me109E, Me109F, Ju87, Ju88s?  MC 202s?   Not sure about Italians or Fw190s.   What have I left out?

Lots of close air support and supply interdiction, tank battles, ground and air assault field captures across N Africa from Morroco to Egypt, that kind of thing?

Luftwaffe-skinned C47s flying low over the Med on resupply missions, etc.

What a/c are we missing for this? P-39, He-111, Ju-52 and Me 323 transports?

Any interest in a scenario like that?

Although it wasn't in North Africa the last scenario before Der Grosse Schlag was Operation Husky; a base capturing scenario with almost the exact same plane set as you have listed. Only difference really between what you have described and Operation Husky is the location it took place.

One of my favourite scenarios ever was Sicily about 5 or 4 years ago now.  That had a very similar planeset to what you've listed, oboe.  It was great fun.

On a bit of a tangent here but has Dieppe ever been considered for a scenario?

I was looking at Dieppe but there are difficulties in doing it with current terrains.

You'd basically be looking at more of a snapshot then anything else I think.

One massive furball over Dieppe.  Spit Vs, IXs, Tiffies, Hurri IIs and Bostons, vs 110s, 109s and 190A5s

Wrote one of my Senior in College  papers on the Dieppe air battle :)

That was a long time ago..Both the battle and the paper :)

I might've flown in that one as a walkon TBM pilot.

Isn't there a Philippines terrain?   Or am I thinking of AH I?
