<S> It was fun
« on: November 12, 2007, 08:51:55 PM »
Alright, now I'm gone for real...

My computer is just too slow... not enough RAM.  The money for repairs is more than a new computer would be... And everything except internet is completely worthless.

I'll stay on the forums because I love you guys.  (In a strictly platonic way)

The game's burning holes in my pockets, and that's a bad thing since I'm not even playing it.

So...  even though you hardly knew me on the game, you won't get that chance for a while.

It was fun while it lasted.

Geez I hope you meant MB or Ram.  :D

Cause I run on 256 Ram, it's not great, but it's not terrible either.  Heck, I don't even have a real graphics card, just the chipset that came with the computer.

I got decent internet though, it's not... great.  But it's good enough for this.  I manage to get a consistant > 25fps (not when I log on, it takes about... 3 minutes for it to wake up and go 'Oh, I need to do something!')

I usually only have problems in big furballs, or stuff like that.  How many programs do you usually have running in the background?

ram is cheap. probably real cheap for your PC. suck it up like the rest of us had to, and buy some memory. ;)

Need the type and speed of ram..... I might possibly have some laying around.

I have 4 gigs in my main machine... but I really see no difference between 2 gigs and 4. More of a difference with vid cards.... my ATI X700 with 512mb ram is way better tham my older 256 card.

im only running 512 MB DDR SDRAM  and the vid card is a cheap one,  the only time the FPS goes down is when the screen gets Really really busy with cons around.

try  http://www.tigerdirect.com   they have some good deals and cheap prices on memory sticks.

So where are the specs??

Being uber geek I may also have parts collecting dust that could breath a little life into your system.
Luck had nothing to do with it. Neither did skill. I really have no idea what did have to do with it. What was the question again?

Do you have one or two sticks in your comp, because SDRAM and DDR are two different types of Memory Sticks.

Click on the START icon found on lower left task bar. Now click on RUN on the new screen. Now type dxdiag in the box that just opened. Hit OK. A new screen will appear providing you with basic system specs. Jot 'em down and report back.

PS. Christmas isn't too far off. Have you been good this year? Write Santa Claus a letter and ask him for a new computer...or maybe a used one. Chances are you can find a system in the classified ads of your local paper, pretty darned cheap. Come on...you're a bright lad...get creative.
