My computer is alive

As I was logged in flying last night, I heard wierd noises that sounded like my computer was talking to me, just barely audible over the game sounds.  It came and it went, I really didn't pay it much attention as I was flying.

After I logged off it continued.  Without the game sounds in the way I was able to start making it out.  Somehow my computer was picking up some Christian talk radio station and was piping it through my speakers.  I turned the volume up to see if it affected how it came through, but had no effect at all.  

Frankly getting annoyed by this point, since I couldn't stop the Jesus talk from coming through, I shut off my computer and hopped in bed.  Amazingly, with the power all shut off, the **** was still playing on my speakers.  I'm not sure if I was more amused or annoyed, but I didn't sleep much beacuse of it.

Now, my question is, how did this happen?

Your speakers are perhaps unshielded and the wires are picking up the broadcast.  Many radio antenna (AM and FM) are made of WIRE.

Used to pickup ham radio transmissions, from mobile units driving by, where I worked.  It only happened on one pair of speakers.  Never seemed to affect the other computer speakers.  Didn't matter if the computer was on or off.

One of our houses we rented (back in the early 90's) had a built in stereo system.  The volunteer fire dept was right down the road, every time those guys would come by and key up, the entire transmission would play through the speakers.   Always real fun at 4AM.

Replace your speaker wires with shielded ones.

The idea was that if Penthouse's essential substance could be ingested and thus absorbed for the ultimate high, grinding down the magazine to a sniffable substance would probably be the best method.

Heh, I did get muted in the MA lasty night for having a political discussion on country channel.  Then when the 10 minute mute was up, I cracked a couple jokes at the mod, which she didn't take very well, and muted me again.  Maybe roach was right.
