Actually, it's not always as easy as the example I posted.  Often times I have to remember how hitech mispelled the keywords to come up with the post I'm looking for :)

Thanks for the "search" advice, murdr. I had forgotten how many times I have been around this hoop. I wasted even more time on it when I played Warbirds. There is no point in this thread, obviously, so I am done with it.

Besides, now that I am (a lot) older, I tend to avoid mirrors anway, so getting one in AH is no longer a priority for me. What I really need now is a cane to get to my plane, and some salve for my shingles when I strap in.

I do believe all the "persuit" (p) series planes had them
I know p38, p47's, and p51's had em.
I think corsairs did

but they weren't on the side, they were on the top of the cockpit so it would overlook the pilots back.

I am by no means a computer guru so take this comment with a grain of salt and a ; however, I suggest you go back and compare the graphic detail of old Air Warrior to Aces High.  I think that may explain why AW could put a rear view mirror in the cockpit but not in here.  Huge difference in graphic resources required to run Aces High.

But, that is just my guess.  I could be wrong.  I was wrong once before... I thought I had made a mistake, but I was wrong.  LOL :D

AW had a mirror on the spitfire but it was only used when selecting the rear view, when what you saw was an enlarged version of the mirror as the whole view. AH has a rear view too ;)

I think mirrors would be a fine addition so players could freshen their makeup after their little purse fights on ch200…  :D

bubble-top F4Us had a total of three: One hanging from the top and one on each side of the windscreen's support frame.

I DO think mirrors would be nice for times where you have to focus up-front and switching views could be hazardous to your health (like weaving through trees with a bad guy on your six and you're trying to throw off his aim JUST enough to survive while giving your buddy time to scrape him off) but it probably won't happen.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Guyver,

You CAN move your rear view and set it to a less obstructed position....

It's not an issue of whether its possible, it's a matter of tradeoffs. Yes the above games do have mirrored views but they do suffer a performance penalty for that. The degree of that penalty from a programming perspective is a matter of optimization. Optimization is one of those concepts that can take significant time and has diminishing returns.

So the tradeoffs are basically spend time writing code to add the mirrors. Take the performance hit as a result. Spend more time optimizing code to minimize the performance hit...

Are mirrors worth the time investment that could be used elsewhere? HTC has to date thought no.
