OK, what would you do?
« on: November 15, 2007, 06:14:09 AM »
I was having a very good night. Striking my targets and probably about 5 to 1 in my favor killing fighters in my Japmobiles.

I made one run thru a tanktown, which was starting to warm up. Hit the ords but wanted one more pass to hit more ords and troops.

I was right outside the radar circle and saw the dar Bar increasing and knew the place would be swarming with enemy fighters on my next pass. Generally, when flying bombers, you try and put yourself in positions where you have a, at worst, 2 on 1.

Even if you knew you had an 80% of getting swarmed and not getting to target would you #A, go in anyways. Your in a Jap bomber so suicides are preferable to *****footing cause its an honor thing. #B, Instead *****foot out like a good little scoe 'hoe and land at a safe 2nd line airbase. #C, circle about hesitantly looking for an in while all the time having your running shoes on.  #D, instead go find an easier target to drop on because thats the idea, to take out targets and then live to tell about it? Or #E, Take a gunner in.

I "went in" anyways. Ended up with 3 fighters inside 600 yrds and could only shoot at them one at a time. "Splash"  In the future I think I'll ask for a gunner. The problem with that is what if you dont know whom your getting?

Find a squad..  If you are part of a squad, you can get a member to gun for you, then you know what you got.

PM Hub and ask him to gun for you.  He is always willing and he is a great shot.

If he is not on, ask SkyRock

I'd grab alt and head for my original target.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

I would take Option "A" Alex.

I only gun when I'm too drunk to fly.

I should probably gun more often.

Actually Ive been thinking about this at work and decided on #b for next time around. To run like a big chicken.:D When you do that your airplanes are in one piece upon landing and a good night stays good. Anything is better then running into a gaggle of demented 14yos intent on blowing you up.

Sunfan I admire your Kamikaze spirit. As for myself?? Im tired of dieing.

I know enough rooks to get a gunner. The problem is not asking for one. Everyone can see how that would be a problem eh?:huh

                             Thanks for the replies.

It used to be fun back when once you were in you were in until the flight stopped.
I'd be on my way with a full 110, DT's bombs and rockets on an extra  long troop pork mission and I'd get a noob trying to join w/o asking.
No worries, .accept noob and he's there in back for an hour and a half watching me pork troops at the front line. By about 1/2 way there they'd be over it and after explaining the virtues of asking before they joined I'm typing .squelch noob:rofl
Not as much fun since the gunners can bail anytime they want now.

I would have chosen A with a little modification. I would have known that they we upping planes to chase me and only me down, so I would have thought "might as well do what I always do, Fly the wings of the plane". Then I would drop alt (if I bombed from 10K, I'd drop to 6-7K), head back it, drop my ord on target if I can, and die guns-a-blazing. :D
