Love the nicknames they gave her. Flying lawn dart comes to mind. :D
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

One I heard back in the '70s was "Kraut Killer". Think it was from when the West German Air Force first tried to hand air to mud ordie on it and crashed a few.
Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Nice video, thanks

Oddly enough, I know 2 F-104 Veterans. One a Wingco, the other ... more.
BTW, the Wingco was a diehard Tornado-fan. His words were that if you want effect and targets hit, it's still the Tornado. Well, that was ,,almost 4 years ago.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

There's an F-104 being converted to static display just down the road from me.  Its supposed to arrive in December.  Its one of my favorite planes and I can't wait for it to show up and take some photos, I know the aircraft owner.

These planes had razor sharp wings  :)

There's a lot of good reads about the F-104 out on the web.  The West Germans had a huge loss rate with these aircraft due to the difficulty level in flying these things.  If you like to see more videos, search around for the Starfighters aerobatic team, which flies 104s.

Probably the most addictive thing about this airplane to me is the shrill of the engines as they taxi around and take off.
