This was designer Horikoshi's predecessor to the Zero, used primarily against China in the late 1930's.  The A5M participated in the attack on Davao in the Philippines in December 1941 and served aboard Ryujo, Zuiho, and Hosho until early 1942. Later, it was used for home defense and training.  Finally, some were used for Kamikaze attacks.  Over one thousand were produced.

A nice plane, and very important in the early stages of the war, but thats all. Besides for events I don't see it getting used, it's like adding an other B5N or D3A.

And what is that supposed to mean... :D

I'd fly the A5M in Late War.  Along with a Peashooter, and I-16.

But I'm... off... I think...

I'd give it a go. I get a kick out of flying the older birds every now and then.

Ditto!

I love taking the D3A into huge furballs and coming home with 5 kills.

So we don’t need any plane that will not revolutionize the LW area???  Give me a break!!  This lame argument is trotted out every time some suggests an early war plane.  Is that the reason we don’t need it?  Because it wont make the wave after wave of La7 losers run in terror??? Come on!!  I have a news flash for you …the days of new planes standing the LW arena on it’s Ear is pretty much over!! Why not have planes that actually fought the War?? …what a novel concept! …..but no …all anybody wants is  1945-46 planes most of which saw little if no actual combat, if they even got off the drawing board? ….why??? Do we need MORE late war planes??

Thats hardly what I meant, hell I fly an A6M5b. The last thing I want to see is an other La7 running around. What I meant is I'm sure there are better planes that could be added instead of this one. Any new addition is a good one, some are just better then others, but who am I to decide...

P.S. I've suggested adding the A6M3 Zeke, so don't act like all I want are extremely late war planes, but a plane that was out of date already by 1941 hardly seems worth it to me, but like I said above, who am I to decide.

It's same, every time sombody suggests an early war plane.... "it's hardly worth it"?  ...why is it hardly worth it??   as opposed to what? ...what would be more worth it?

.....I'm not picking on your personally....I'm sure you are a great guy ....but I am tired of everytime sombody suggests an early war plane some 'match expert' has to log in and tell us how in his expert oppion we dont need it! .....why not support the idea?

I'm not sure but didn't the japanese begin fighting w/ china in late 1937?
Wouldn't it be fun to fly some of those birds?
......but since it wont rule the LW arena lameness ....I guess it's all useless? ....boooooo

This is point of view expressed by many.....not just you ....sorry to bite ya, but I'm tired of nobody wanting early war planes ....your idea for zeke is great, I support your effort to get one

Theres no real way to decide what is "more worth it" then something else. The only one who really decides that is HTC. I'm just adding my opinion like everyone else, I don't expect you to like it.

Of course I'm going to give my opinion, my assumption was that was the ideal. Whats the point of a one sided debate?

I'm not exactly sure on the date, but yes it was about then, but I've never seen a thought on Chinese planes being added. As of right now the only planes we have that the Chinese used are American Planes and possible others, but none originally from China. And like I said, by the time America entered the war, the A5M was already out of date.

Like I said before, this is a bit too early, perhaps in the future we could have this plane, but for now I feel there are better planes that could be added before this one. Adding this plane is like I said before, like adding an other B5N or D3A. In other words, an other plane that is almost never used besides scenario's.
