brauno, if you want to improve your game you want to be down low and not the other way round. why do you think players like the two you seem to emulate get kills but once out of altitude and speed and away from friendlies and ack are as helpless as a two week zipcode?
come on down son, take your lumps below 8k. if a pick presents itself by all means take advantage of it but also develope the ability to manuever at close quarters in any ride.
the game is a ton more fun all when you are (and I and all the other players) able to put up a good fight no matter what cards you are dealt.
I suppose you could take some time and visit with any of the excellent trainers and shave light years off of your game or you could just aquire your skill by dying many many times. the latter is my choice for training and the environment we are current enjoying in the AvA is second to none for high quality fights. the level of player coming into the arena affords all of the opportunity to go up against some very fine and well skilled players who will give you (and I) some exciting two fisted action. take advantage of that. eschew emulating to two unskilled poltroons, they aren't even good as door stops in the AvA.

Ok, now I get it. You are continuing your 200 rant from the other night where I supposedly bounced you "right off the runway." Please, if you have that encounter on film, take a look at it. You will see that I watch and wait while you get up to speed. When I see you are making no attempt to climb, I come down to almost your alt throttled back so as to bleed speed. At 800 off your six, you finally break left, and I break right. I did all these things to allow the 109 to reset the fight and start from a relatively even starting point. Had I known it was you, I would not have been so foolish as to intentionally bleed off my advantage, especially in a Pony (which I still can't seem to figure out). I tried to go through all this after you so easily shot me down, but you were too busy spewing to think about it. Obviously doing all those things must be "completely against the grain of the arena norms."
But, anyway, let me set you straight about a few things about how I play . . .
1) I am definitely NOT trying to emulate Okllok, Sehob, you, or anyone else.
2) I normally try to get to about 4-5K max, and don't bother with any more than 2K if the furball is close.
3) I will go higher to 6-7K in a Pony because I suck with it more than most planes and can't seem to turn it 180 degrees without losing 1000 feet of altitude.
4) I will also go higher if all I encounter are 190s at 12K+ as they usually were that evening.
5) When I see a 1v1 I will ask if the person needs help or simply stay out if it looks like he has it handled.
6) I do not bother asking if there are 2 red cons on a green. (If one of those reds dies without having noticed me first, aside from being a miracle, that is his bad, not mine.)
7) I do not HO in a 1v1 unless the opponent has miraculously missed a HO attempt first. If there is more than one red on lonely old me, all bets are off. If Truekill announces the HO light is on, all bets are off, too.

8) I have never and will never "run to the ack."
9) My playing time is generally limited to Friday and Saturday nights, and I am too anxious to just "do something" to try to get any formal training. So, I prefer your tack of getting shot down countless times and hope I learn something in the process.
I'm still waiting for you to provide any evidence I act in any way contrary to what I have described above. Since you can't, please stop making false accusations.
