Fink that's a normal reaction of a deer to a bow shot. I've had more than one duck an arrow, in fact had
two get out of the way just last week.
Then I commited a cardinal sin and shot (what I didn't know to be) a split arrow at hands down the biggest buck I'd ever had the privilege of seeing. 30 yards, the arrow came off pitching up and down wildly landing about 5 yards in front of the deer (which translates into about 8-10 feet LOW from my treestand) which walked away up the hill laughing at me.
I took a look at the arrow and it had a fracture down the shaft. I now actually inspect the arrow before using it...
and I bought some new arrows.
