I find the need to do this while in-game from time to time.  Usually in a tank or vehicle, not until I'm getting warmed up (meaning not before I play), and usually at the most IN-opportune time (in the middle of a heated tank battle).
I get the old "droopy gun", or the one that wants to change its windage autonomously.

I actually don't find it to be as much of a problem in aircraft.

Go back and recal in the Saitek software.....  I have the 52 and never have to recal....... I DID have the problem until I went back and recal'd outside AH.

Forgotten, but back in the game.  :)

i have never found a place to calibrate the X52 outside AH

Do yo have the buttons and switched programmed in SST or in AH?  If you use SST look at the MFD as you press the buttons.  If the MFD displays the function then you know that the stick is registering the command and i would start looking in game.  Another option would be to alt-tab out of the game and bring up the joystick properties in the windows "control panel"  see if the buttons are registering in there.

Yeh i dont have in game calibration issues,, ive heard you can adjust the deadband width to alleviate that problem,, anyhow,, my issue is intermittent lock of one particular area of the joystick.

All the buttons on the "cobras head shaped" top piece lockupmmmhatswitches the flat black left switch,, tge two blue ones next to the mode switch which also locks up,,,

I beleive the computer is prioritising tasks, mucking around chatting to his mates on the internet and not really putting the effort  into running hardware atttachments...DAMN Windows op sys...

Im gonna download and run FSAutostart to see if i can shutdown some of the unnessary programs, think this might work will update post with any outcomes..,positive or otherwise...

Make sure you Saitek software is  set to recognize the hats as 8-way switches and not 4-way.  If it is already set that way, exchange the stick for a new one.  I am on my third.  My very first one I had to return to Best Buy.  It lasted about 10 months before I could not get it to calibrate, so I bought a spare to use because Best Buy told me I had to send it back to the manufacturer.  I now have one working stick, and I am currently waiting for Saitek to return the other (hopefully repaired).  Great stick as far as features and options go, but not impressive as far as durability.  My biggest complaint is that the cord from throttle to stick should have a "lock-in" ability so the pressure is not on the plug directly since it is connected to the PCB inside.

This is the best I can think of.
