Wednesday Night Snapshot "The Straffers"
« on: November 20, 2007, 09:36:01 AM »
Event begins at 10 PM EST in the Special Events Arena
All are welcome

Rabaul, like Truk, her sister citadel in the Carolines, was destined to be by-passed by our invasion forces, but would be completely cleared of all air and naval power in the process. There were many strikes carried out against Rabaul; the most bloddy of all probably being that of 2 November 1943. Intelligence reported Simpson Harbor to be packed with ships. General Kenney put nine B-25 squadrons (all straffers) and six covering squadrons of P-38 into the air and headed them out for Rabaul.

Destroy the CV’s and Cruisers in the following task groups: C74, C75, and C74. Then jump all the task groups very near Port 34 and place them in a small triangle way point path. Dial up the respawn time of the task groups so they will stay near the port and not respawn.

Hmm 38Gs ya say?  Think I'll be there :)

You using the B25C strafers?  Hs weren't around for the Rabaul runs in 43.

39th and 80th FS were the high scoring 38s over Rabaul.  475th was getting up to speed as well.

Lots of good US pilots lost during that stretch too, Danny Roberts, Porky Cragg etc.

Understood.  The H is a considererd a Strafer as well.  I was just curious as to if it would be the C strafers since the H's arrived after the Rabaul runs of 1943 or if Hs were included anyway.

I'd definitely fly this except my gaming computer's (I use this term loosely with respect to that old relic) mobo fried itself. Have fun!

its only b25C's if its the same setup as last time this was run.

but when i tagged along in a p38G as an escort last time this was run there was a big mixup and all the b25's were level bombers and hit the static ships at the port instead of the moving task groups nearby.

with the acks dialed down it should be a good scenario for the b25s if they are all setup as straffers and go for the correct ships this time :D

Yup, that was my fault. Guess I didn't read rules carefully enough... :(

The Arena Message has been modified to say no bombs and only B25Cs will be enabled.
