FR loss..wassup?
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:26:13 AM »
Starting night before last I had a large drop in FRs in the orange arena. Finaly got to the pont that I logged off.
I didn`t think too much about it when I talked to a couple of other players who had the same experience.
Then upon logging in yesterday I noticed the same thing.
Something happening here that I don`t know about?

Large terrain and most likely spawning right in the middle of a lot of action when entering the arena would be a guess.

I never had this kind of severe FR loss such as this before. The strange thing is that it started out of the blue one night. I had played the large terrain almost exclusively up until that point without a prob. Seems to have gotten a lot better for me in the last few days. I believe it might have been server related.

Not server related.  The server has nothng to do with your local frame rate.

OK. Possibly internet connection to the server?
We have seen the arena go into "frozen molasses" mode on several occasions as of late, sometimes with total freeze. That definitely affects FRs.

Pay attention.

The server cannot effect frame rate.  It cannot cause a pause or stutter on your client.  The game runs regardless of what the server is doing.

The only things that can effect frame rate is your computer.  Large terrains can impact frame rate, but that has nothing to do with the server.

Pauses and stutters and freezes are all client related issues.  They have nothing to do with the server.

Y'all should know by now that insulting Skuzzy's server is the equivalent of insulting his mother, or telling Mr. Scott that the Enterprise is on the fritz..

But...... keeping this in mind, are we all having mass dimentia?  I have been noticing (especially in the blue arena) that this is the common denominator amongst a lot of folks.  Also, I've only noticed it in the past couple of days.  Lag (not so much stutter, but kills being recorded up to 5 sec. after visual demise of opponent)

Could it be problems across the board with connection?  Is it the Holiday online-shopping frenzy?

No one is insulting the server, but some seem to forget I do know a thing or two about how Aces High II works and what roles all the hardware play in that.

I figure if people want to solve their problems they will provide some real information.  If all anyone wants to do is complain, then just say so and I will quit trying to help out.

But, when you claim the problem is cased by 'X' and I happen to know for a fact 'X' cannot be the cause, I would be remiss in not pointing that out.

Claiming the server is causing stutters, freezes, pauses in the game is akin to claiming the new gas station that went in down the road must be causing my car to ride horrible amd make awful sounds as it all started when that station opened up.  Never mind the flat tire on the car.

The information is available to anyone who really wants it.  The Internet is a mess right now.  Do not take my word for it.  Do a little research and you will find that to be true.  Or you can continue to ignore the flat tire.

I knew something was up.  What it is, I'm not exactly sure.  I am  the network admin(albeit a small one 10 PC's) at my work amongst other things.   I HAVE been noticing some fishy stuff.  I thought it was only here at work and tried to smoke it out to no avail.  I then started noticing at at home, also.

No offense intended Skuzzy, I just meant that there Is indeed some internet related issues as of late.  I also know that it cant be your server as much as it can't be the proverbial gas station's fault either.  But, since it is almost across the board, I was curious to see what your thoughts were.  Our company is here in Philadelphia, and our Comcast has been garbage for a few weeks now, including actual hours of down time with no good explanation from Comcast.  It is almost to the point where I am going to pay my bill on a pro-rated basis (ie: hours of "up" vs. "down" time.  If I can't use it, I'm not paying for it.

Here is some information over the noise being made with Comcast.  There are more links on that page describing what they are doing.

It is effecting all Comcast customers nationwide.

What is not clear yet, is if Road Runner is also doing the same thing.  Not everyone is having a bad time of it.  Some are having it worse than others and most people are being effected by many things right now.
