Hi Viz Shotgun Sight

Looking for a shooting stocking stuffer?  Maybe a little treat for your gunnery self?  Try the Hi Viz Birdbuster Shotgun Sight for only $15 at Wal-Mart.

I researched quite a few sight enhancements like this, finally spending twice as much money ordering one that turned out to be too narrow, too long, and too dark, so I promptly returned it.

Then I found Hi Viz at local Wal-Mart. The Hi Viz system is everything a shotgun augmentation sight should be: inexpensive, easy to install, easy to fit whatever size shotgun rib, and easy to use any of four included tubes: green or red, round or triangle.

One of the three metal bracket widths included in each package should fit nicely, and three magnets ensure it will stay snug.  I tried mine out today and it was perfect through a hundred shells.

Best of all, it's definitely more viZible and easier to point/aim with than the bead, which the Hi Viz snuggles up against and does not replace.

Thanks for the link.  I bought my version just seeing it at Wal-Mart, it's that appealing.

On the site, it's Shotgun BirdBuster Magnetic Sight, item BB2005, $21.60.  If you can't find it at Wal-Mart for $14.98, it's worth $21.60 from the internet.

I have the Lyman Unidot, which is made the same way as the HiViz ones. Being right-handed and left-eye dominant, it greatly improved my clay hitting ability.

I've tried both the Hi-Viz, and the UniDot on my shotguns, and they are both quite inferior to the EasyHit sight in terms of the quality of the sight picture that they provide.  The EasyHit is much brighter than either of them, which is most important when hunting waterfowl at first daylight.

The EasyHit is endorsed by Benelli's world famous professional shotgun shooter Tom Knapp, who uses the EasyHit in all of this shooting demonstrations, whether on TV, on the Web, or at his personal appearances.   The EasyHit is manufactured in Sweden at far higher quality standards than the Hi-Viz or UniDot.

Here is a photo of the EasyHit on one of my shotguns: my waterfowl gun:

I use the longer Sportsmen's bead length for both my target shooting and hunting shotguns, due to its greater light gathering abilities.   I use the 3 mm bead for hunting, and the 2.5 mm for target shooting.

Here is an online vendor that sells the sight here in the USA:

You can also order it from Tom Knapp's own website:

And here is a link to their corporate website:

Anyway, don't waste your money on the Hi-Viz or Unidot, when you can instead own the best fiber-optic shotgun sight there is:  EasyHit !!

Different strokes for different folks.  I'll stand by the Hi Viz BirdBuster package I got.  I like its visibility (brighter and easier to see), simplicity (magnetic quick and solid attachment instead of messing with tape), versatility (three widths and four tube options included), and economy (almost half the price of competitors).

The other sight I had featured a longer black tube that was supposed to provide better alignment, but it just made the dot less visibile even when perfectly aligned.  It offered only one width (hard to measure accurately), tape insted of magnets, only one insert and cost almost twice as much.
