Screen Shots: Ki-67's Bombing Run
« on: November 23, 2007, 10:51:19 PM »
Had some fun tonight when me and some squadies decieded to take some Ki-67's up and bomb a bish base. We flew in formation all the way in and all the way out (or as best as we could) and even bombed in formation. We may have missed all of our target, :D , but the fun just got funner when we were jumped by a P-47 and 190. After shooting the P-47 up, killing a 190 (I got the kill hehe), and out running a yak we were finally able to land.

The only editing I did on these scren shots are a blur effect to smooth it out, and the 2 shots to make them look like they were taken during flight.

good work,  you seldom see formation bombing..  even in bombing missions everyone still aims for themselves most of the time..

A nice formation bombing mission is cool, We do them frequently between jabo and GV exercises.

That may be the very first time I've seen screen shots of a Ki-67 formation.

Usually they all have been mostly B-17s or Lancasters.  Usually B-17s.

Sounds like you had fun.

I believe the KI-67 is the most under-rated bomber in the game. Best of all its a great bomber to fight fighters from. Its fast enough to string out fighters into the horizontal and the top cannon has great coverage because the airplane rolls so well.

A lot of people dont know it, including a few 262 sticks, but the sideways attack on KI-67s is one of the worst. They think they are only going to be facing the waist 0.50 but when you roll the thing in on a fighter the top cannon covers that shot as well. And since your rolling into the fighter hes probably going to get greedy and flatten out in your "6" trying to get a shot and then you got him with your tail guns.

I think its pretty cool you took them out in formation. And great pics.

Ya, the jug tried to hit us from the six, but with all our guns (plus the fact that he couldn't shoot to well) he didn't do much. The 190 came in below us, so I climbed 200ft above Chilli and GruppeTC (The other 2 bombers), he goes for me and TC and Chilli pound him with 20mm's and 50cals, while I hit him with 50cals.

Most damadge was to my lead bomber, who only took 3 hits :lol

You might enjoy flying those KI67s over Okinawa in FSO this December. Great Screens
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Another trick I like to use Latrobe is to "string the con out". I'll either leave my bomb bay doors open when he coming in, and at about 4 K close them, and what happens is he sets his slash up only to find out he flattens out a lot earlier then he thought he would. Guys do that anyways with 67s but when you add a gradual 10 mph they do it more.

"Most" attacks come from under you. And those can be defeated to. Another nice trick is rudder turning hard and zinging your drones around a bit confusing an attacker. I beat a tough stick in a 110 last night doing that, and its a good bomber plane that can beat a good stick in a 110 without losing one 67.

I never take less then a full tank of fuel in my 67s. I love ranging them behind enemy lines talking out ords, dars, and troops as they pop up at front line airbases. Most of all if one of our CVs is heading there.

               Just a great airplane.
