Is World in Conflict strictly a multiplayer game or does it have a single player side to it?

COD4 is really amazing. Unfortunately either it's ridden with hackers or the network code needs ironing. I find that I'm getting killed regularly with 1-2 hits where I can empty a clip of M249 on some people with no effect.

The kill-cam feature is really cool since it lets you see exactly how the opponent killed you (through his eyes).

I'd suggest its you if thats the case, I'm yet to have anything like that happen in Multiplayer

In Hard Core servers a single round can take someone down...the G3 with a red-dot or ACOG is excellent for this task, although I usually prefer the M4, or P-90 for CQB maps

I thought its pretty stable, but then I haven't played it for a couple of weeks...but I don't believe its been patched since...After awhile it becomes very repitive

Based on all the great things I've heard, I ordered COD4 last night off Steam, and let it download all night so it's ready to play tonight.

I did hear the single-player game is quite short. Is that true?

Also, the only similar multiplayer game I've played was Counter-Strike (and I played a lot of it, back when it was good). How does it compare? Less fun than Team Fortress 2, more fun than Counterstrike?

single is really short but fun.  the MP has a ton of varities so you can basically play any type of game you want.  Search and destroy is like CS.

... also if you want a level playing field against decent guns, you might be able to do a little tweaking to the game and connection. not sure what engine COD uses but for quake games cvars like rate, snaps, maxpackets etc make a big difference.:aok

COD4 has a game mode called  "Search and Destroy". It's an exact rip off of Counterstrike(1 bomb two targets). It's the only way I play COD4 now. Great fun.

According to the 'kill cam' they were anything from a leg shot to gut shot. They just spray in the general direction and boom I'm dead.

I'm a little more than halfway through, so I can't say how short it is just yet... but if you're anything like me, you'll have a hard time playing for more than 20-30 minutes at a time, it's very intense. Sensory overload, for sure. It's one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've had yet. :)

Re: World in Conflict

Bought it, played it a bit, put it on the shelf. Worst RTS I've ever played. Command & Conquer still is the RTS king imo.

WOC- no single player offline option (Absolutely loved C&Cs skirmish mode). I typically don't play campaigns much, too limited for me. I like the ability to choose what/how I want to do. I didnt like the limitations forced on me, if I chose Armor, I didnt have access to infantry, or when I chose Air I didnt have heavy armor units availiable to me. I didnt like the point system, seemed cheesey, like they were looking for a way to limit your usable units but couldnt come up with a decent idea.

All in all I found the single player/campaign to fall far, far short of the mark. Graphics were stunning (aside from the water color artwork), but a t urd with pretty lights is still a tur d.

WOC online - basically a bunch of nukes going off. Little challenge & no skill needed.

Whats up with the craptastick watercolor artwork instead of movie clips anyway?

I've got my eye out for the CoD games, when I find them at prices I'm willing to pay I plan on picking them all up.

Coshy,

Thanks very much for the evaluation, I do appreciate it. I guess I'll wait until it hits the bargain shelf.

cod4 is a great shoot em up and I love it.

My system can run it well and its beautiful.  Multiplayer is FUN!

Single player is immersive but I would say short also./  Stick it on the hardest level and it would take MUCH longer  ;)

1) kill everyone so you dont get any kills or

2)  blow you up with an airstrike because he has an uber kill streak.

Heh, most likely meaning he's playing with a slightly altered client. :lol

I take uber in FPS games with two grains of salt. So should you.
