The thing that bothers me in COD4 is that I can't get positional awareness from audio using headphones. In AAO you can easily tell from which locations shots are coming from but COD4 it's just a mess, someone can shoot you from behind and you'll never know where it's coming from untill you see the tracers and die. Another really weird thing is that when I run into another player head to head sometimes they pop me down with 1 shot before I manage to pull the trigger. I.e. kill me instantly they pop into view.

Then when I look into the kill cam they had good time to see me and to react. This means they see a totally different view compared to me. It's like my client lags for 1 second before I even see the enemy by which time I already drop down dead.

Really weird and it seems to happen only with certain players. I'm 100% sure someone discovered some lag exploit.

that happens with the ps3 version also.  I dont see the guy but on the kill cam he has a good couple seconds of seeing me.

Alright, I've played COD4 for the past day or so, and I've remembered why I don't love the COD series: everything is so scripted.

First and foremost, the game looks fantastic on my new quad-core Q6600 with an nVidia 8800 GT. The controls are decent, the storyline isn't annoying enough to disrupt my enjoyment, and the GUI is functional. What I don't like is how every encounter feels so fake. You kill 30 or 40 guys, who appear like magic in a neverending stream, and then move on. Makes me feel like I'm supposed to run and gun constantly, instead of methodically clear and area before moving on, like I assume SpecOps dudes are trained to do.

Minor gripes, I guess. Overall I'm happy to have spent the $50, and I'm looking forward to finishing up and trying out multiplayer.

Engine,

I saw that alot in COD2. If you hang back and fire from a distance the enemy never runs out of bodies. If you fire and move up quickly the combat is over much faster with far fewer enemy.

One thing I did enjoy quite a bit was the option to take differant routes or changes in tactics to ahieve the over all goal for some of the episodes.
