The arena cap in the main arenas are set that way to increase and decrease togather automatically. The reason was because when the arenas were first split, everyone filled one arena to the cap or 450, and the rest of the people, 50 or so, were stuck playing with low numbers. With the set up as it is the LW arena populations grow evenly.

There was never a problem with the EW, or MW as those population never hit a cap.....unfortunately :(

The other arenas have nothing to do with the caps in the LW arenas, its like comparing apples and oranges. The reason the LW arena was split was due to the way the game environment had deteriorated according to HTC. They have since added "Titanic Tuesday" to retry the large single arena again. If the comunitty returns to the large hordes, and ganging that totally dominated the large arenas of old, you can expect to see it go back to the split arenas again.

ow my i can see the fighting on the BBS over this. :D

and of course its 1200 on a saturday and the cap for orange is 200 with 203 people in there. The green and purple are at 350 with 26 people in those arenas. This makes alot of sense though I agree with those guys completely. I'am so glad i pay to not go to the arenas I want to. Like my schedule is so flexible.

I don't care what the reasons for the cap are. They are not working. I don't like the smaller maps. I pay to play in the arenas I play in. Oncee again the other arena caps are huge with a few people in them and of course I can't get into the arena I want to get into. It seems that HTC does this to get people angry is all. All arenas should be open for play without any bottlenecks. Do other games do this stupid cap stuff?

Wow.
Why don't you read the link Skuzzy posted towards the beginning of the thread?
Would explain your problem.

The arena limits are governed as follows: As an example, if the Orange arena reaches a certain percentage of its maximum capacity, the server will adjust the Blue arena limit to a higher number. When the Blue arena reaches a certain percentage of its limit, then the Orange arena limit is raised. Conversely, the arena limits are also reduced in the same manner

None of this really matters. Everyone thinks that everyone else has the same type of schedule and time to wait around for orange arena to become open. Thisis the arena I like to use. It's the arena I PAY to use. This doesn't mean I have anything agaisnt anyone here but the cap and even the idea of it really gets in the way. It needs to be rermoved. It's really obvious that more than just I have issues with it. If I wanted  to go to the other arenas I would. Why not give orange a 350 all day cap like the ones that only have 30 PEOPLE AT A GIVEN TIME? It's moronic to run the biggest arena with a 120 cap.

You pay to use HTC game and servers, it doesn't say you get to play in which ever arena you want to. You do not pay to be able to tell HTC how to run his game.

A 350 cap on orange would cause orange to fill to cap, and have the over flow in blue. Should HTC do this to please you, and you sign on a bit late you would find orange full to max and you would have to play in an arena with a low number count. Seeing that HTC had bowed to your wishes you of course would no long complain about being locked out of orange would you? Of course you would.

The caps were mean to keep the population under 450 in the LW arenas due to over population causing poor game play and the lose of income for HTC.  If you can't find fun in another arena, you ain't looking hard enough.

I don't expect anyone to bow to my wishes or tell anyone how to run their game. It just strikes me bad when I see a cap of 350 for say the green arena with 30 total in it and the orange (the most used arena) with 120/220/with an overflowing number in it but getting forced into the smaller arena where I don't really enjoy going. Noone here is royalty. This really is the only problem with the game that I see. To place a bottleneck into the works where the other arenas that really do not need one looks pretty rediculous is all. Happy Holidays!

I understand that they don't want a large amount of people in one server and a few in another. Well, look at the green one any given time. HMMMM really makes sense to the bbs guys huh? The largest server has the lowest cap and this is perfectly ok with everyone? Think about that a second. 120 person cap for the map which is huge and the cap for a smaller player base is set at 350 but theres usually only 50 people in there at any given time. This makes sense is what you are saying. You guys in an alternative universe or something? hahahah

It has nothing to do with the server.  The cap system is a best compromise to help balance the arenas.  If you have a better suggestion on how to balance the arenas, then feel free to send us an email about it.

The twin Late War arenas operate under a dynamic cap.  The single arenas for Early and Mid War do not need a dynamic cap as there is only one of each.  If there were two of each of those, which there was for a while, then they would also be under a dynamic cap.

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum on the board and include detailed explanations from both HiTech and Pyro on this matter.

I am closing this simply due to the sheer volume of discussions about this topic are available via the search mechasnism.  If you cannot find an answer there, then there is a good chance you will never find an answer.  It also appears some very good information has been provided, which answers the questions, but possibly not the answers some are looking for.

If you want an explanation from HiTech or Pyro, then drop me an email.
