Steel Fury Kharkov 1942 (tank sim)
« on: November 27, 2007, 10:00:59 PM »
I got to test my new video card with this lovely demo. It seems a new king of WW2 tank combat is about to be released.

Screenshots were taken on medium setting and resized to 800x600

Infantry and tanks rush forward

For a better view to spot targets, my crew pops out out of T-34/76

Infantry actually stays near tank for protection.

Shells explode around damaged tank. Few seconds later it caught on fire.

As we pushed through village, Germans counter attacked with tanks and infantry. This Pnz got 3-4 shells into turret. No one escaped.

I parked my tank in hall-down position and popped tanks as they drove by. One tank received a shell and played 'dead'. Majority of tank's crew bailed out after first hit.

Large portion of infantry managed to enter village. One Stug tried to sneak on to my 6 as I was running out of AP shells. Crew bailed but was mowed down by MG.

I advanced to village only to get whacked by PzrIII that was playing dead.

I hope the gameplay makes up for those graphics. How would you rate the realism with regards to the tanks and tank systems such as gunnery?

looks good is it multi-player or just single player mission type stuff? I'd love a tank sim that worked like AH2 on the multi-player end but had much better graphics.

Hell I think the graphics aren't bad for what appears to be a gunsight picture on the tank. Looks like one that I am going to see about grabbing myself to get back into some sims for a bit.

Nice pictures. It will be interesting to see how it plays. It's a shame they didn't use the "flight of geese" tank sight.

Can you play as germans and is the Zeiss sight modelled properly? If not, nevermind.

As much as I don't like GVing in Aces High, I still loooveeee tanks.

Is this anything like the old... um... crap... what were they called... THAT'S IT!

The Close Combat Series?

When I get my new computer set up I might just take a whack at this, depends though, does it have the SU-100, or the ones that came before it?  Gotta love those Tank Destroyers.

Also, that T-34 is mighty nice looking...  Always did like Russian Armor more than US.  Never have figured out why...

'tis a good game, but has its drawbacks.  For a large scale multiplayer tank battle sim, its very good.  Its drawbacks are infantry and lack of decent maps (since the last time I played).  The controls are terrible for movement and controls of infantry.  Gameplay wasn't bad, didn't really care for waiting for a tank to spawn and having 5 guys try to get in it.

As far as I know, the team that is working on this, is maintaining maximum realism including ballistics, armor and driving. There will be three tanks; Matilda, T34/76 and PzrIII(?). All of those vehicles are rendered inside and out including crew, sight and whatnot. Red Orchestra is more of a infantry simulator then tank sim (tanks = arcade). I'm not even going to talk about AH....
There is a demo available to anyone who has enough computer power. With my 3200+ / 1G ram / 7800GTOC demo run fine on medium settings.

I think it looks pretty good, the demo is a bit confusing but looks good. When is it due out?

Looks good, screenshots look ok to me, remind me of ww2ol.  IMO those guys could have made a bit of money by making a ww2 tank sim on the side.

This game was brought to my attention about a year a go. I downloaded it but could not get it running. Possible because at the time I was running 64 bit Xp. The person who told me about it was really pumped about the graphics.  He posted alot of pics that looked impressive.

The makers of the game are russian.
