Why the hell would you ever NOT immediately kill a rattlesnake you found in your personal area?
I might kill a rattlebug in my personal area if I felt like cleaning and eating it. They are pretty good. Otherwise I'd probably just catch it with a pole/snare, put it in the back of the truck and go relocate it somewhere a fair distance away.
The only time I'm usually around them much is Spring turkey hunting later in the season. Have to watch out for them because they may not always warn of their presence. That's usually when I've killed one to eat. Most of the time I usually just walk around them or shoo them away.
Also, the snake in the photo was not a rattlesnake or venomous. They catch a bad rap because they look like something dangerous. It was a colorful Diamondback Watersnake.
