I love taking out NOE missions.  Nothing gets my blood going quicker then someone saying NOE mission at XXX.  I up either my Hellcat, Pony D, or a Spit XVI and go crazy!!  Love shooting down 110s.  Plus i love doing NOE raids, weather its 110s, Hellcat/Corsairs, B-26, whatever!! Takes a lot of skill to fly low like that and not hit trees!!

The 367th captures bases by using several flights of 10-15k bombers followed by jabos (with altitude also) and a goon/m-3 all the time.

I was on a CV one night watching a red dot, I thought was a buff, and see goons low in the water.  I think, "now why would goons be on the water like that 4 sectors away from any nme base?".  Of course I figured out the answer.  So I up an F4U-4 from the CV and give chase, NOE myself all the while sending an alert out about the raid.

Before there 51's could reverse to help, I off all the goons (3 as it turns out), and extend drawing 5 cons with me.  One stays to fight, and I get him running.  By the time I get to the port they were trying to take, there was nothing left but green icons on the ground.

I have to agree with you EagleEyes, busting NOE raids rocks!

This wasn't an NOE mission but it was fun as h***.

I was cruising in a Yak-9U at 17K one night on SmPizza and saw a huge red dar-bar coming from a couple of bases back on the Knight side of the map.  I headed toward it thinking they were going after the nearby Bish VB.  As it turns out I was wrong and they were actually headed to an airfield about 3-4 sectors away.

Pretty soon I was alone in the same sector as the dar-bar but still didn't see anything.  I tipped a wing down and there below me were at least 20 cons of every type.  Spits, 109's, Hogs, Jugs, 110's, you name it.

I passed by slightly then began a high speed dive through, hoping for a few surprise picks but as I dove in, right in the middle of all of them was a C-47 that grabbed my attention.

Fighters were breaking in every direction trying to turn onto my six and someone must have warned the goon because as I approached, he tried a break turn but I caught just enough of him to take him down.

There were still fighters trying to break on me but I had so much speed I just kept going in a slight zoom-climb, finally towing all of them.

Then I noticed there were still more in front of me.  At least another ten or so.  I nosed back down and kept on going getting another one (I think it was an LA).

And there in front of him (them) were even more!  I focused in on what appeared to be the leader and blasted his 110 out of the sky.

My ammo spent I just kept zooming away alerting my countrymen (who eventually squelched the attack) and flew home to land my 3 kills.

There had to have been at least 40 guys on this mission and they stretched over a sector to a sector and a half.

Thanks to the speed of that Yak-9U I was able to fly right through all of them and never even took a ping.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Everyone loves to catch those NOE missions flat footed.    Trick is to run your goons first, which bish and knits havn't quite caught onto yet (dohhh, yes, thats the secret).  If you run your goons 3-4 mins ahead, they arrive right as last buidling falls.

Newb mission planners run everyone at same time, goons are 5 mins late, and by that time the word has gone out and everyone and their brother shows up, barrels past the 110's and kill the hapless goons...tisk tisk.

High Alt bomber missions...love em.  Put 3 players in formation with lancs   (with drones) side by side, take a town east-west or north-south, and each one takes a third.  One lanc pass with 8 bombs of 1000k will drop a town completely.  Then leave it 20 minutes and sneak the goon in.  Problem is, most are too impatient for this type of mission, so not many joiners.

Taking down a base completely is a fun one too, with heavy jugs or hellcats, but then you have to count on player capability.  In any given mission I find about 3/4 will hit thier assignment, but that last 1/4 causes alot of frustration, cause close don't count.

Problem with missions is getting enough joiners.  I run them all the time and probably average 8-10 players.  With that many the smash and grab is best option.

Wishlist:  A second way to capture a field besides killing town.  Ie, all hangers and ack down on base, then tower is considered like a maproom, and base can be captured like that...just a thought.

If you want to WIN THE WAR that's fine by me. Makes no difference any way. Why, however, should a fair chance be given?

only way to do that that has ever worked reliably in the past is make hq unresuppliable so it is a high value target worth defending.

when hq became resuppliable it was essentially removed from the game as a target to spend an hour forming up a large raid and climbing to altitude. the enemy could resupply the hq in 5 minutes while the bombers still had to rtb for 20 min back to friendly territory.

indeed the hq raids are missed. sure it sucked havign no dar but thats why defending the hq was fun.

there was somthing to lose. somthing you wanted to keep safe at stake and somthing the enemy was willing to do a coordinated high altitude bomber raid to hit.

there is currently no target of much importance or relevance for bombers to hit. at least none of the magnitude the HQ used to be.

im really hoping that one day this will change back... If large maps start making a come back then the HQ needs to be redone.
