Radar bug on big maps
« on: December 05, 2007, 06:49:16 AM »
Yesterday (Titanic Tuesday, Ozkanas map) I had(again) a lot of radar glitches on my map.

I saw friendly dots appearing and disappering in remote areas of the map as if they had been enemy NOE cons inside a base radar range. They seem to have popped more or less randomly, and in at least one case I know for sure there wasn't any pilot even near the location. In all others any friendly presence was extremely unlikely and I got no answer on my inquiries on countrychannel.

I saw a few small enemy darbars literally jumping around the map. All at very unlikely locations for NOE sorties. A enemy dot appeared on my map far outside of base radar ranges, not moving for a few minutes before disappearing.

One time, a fellow pilot reported a enemy dot on his dar close to my location. Neither me nor another pilot could either spot any con near us, nor did we see any enemy dot on our map.

I witnessed similar occurences last week, on Compello map I think It was on a Titanic Tuesday too, but not entirely sure.

In both cases, I noticed these things after playing for at least a half hour, it was not during the initialisation perdiod after entering the arenas, when total map dar is updated.

I and my squadmates saw the same anomalies.  At one time we spent about 15 minutes trying to find the planes represented by two red dots inside a radar ring.   There were about four of us looking at multiple altitudes and nothing was there.  The red dots stayed in the same location for at least 20min.

The orange dots of other squad members either did not appear or were located far from where they were.  At several times the blip indicating that a squad member toggled hios radio appeared sectors away from his true location.

We concluded AH has introduced a new type of stealth technology.:)
Balrog in game. Some day my performance may justify the name. LOL

Last night I had a LOT of instances of enemies showing up and disappearing as icons from anywhere around 2.0K up to 5.0K.  Was rather random but I did end up getting whacked a lot by instantly appearing enemies.  I checked all my icon settings and nothing was different... this has not occurred in other arenas.  Also a LOT of warping (no pingplot weirdness though).

I was mostly above tank island and there was a lot going on down below. Also I have TikTok's sound pack.

According to a HTC official, who did not what to be identified, HTC is conducting operational testing of a new classified radar system during Titanic Tuesdays.  This new system is so sensitive that it is able to detect foe-fighters which are believed to be ex-H2H players trying to cross into the AH dimension.  Apparently, HTC is keeping a tight lip on this information to avoid creating a panic in the community.  Story developing.

I had enemy dots on my map as well, at P15 last night. One was just NE of P15 just off shore. Searched to find nothing, half hour later an LTV shows up there, took us forever to kill it. I'm sure we couldn't all have been "missing it". Same base later enemy dot to S 1/4 way to dar ring. Searched for about five minutes and found a Panzer moving in. Hmm...could he have been high enough on the mountain to register on dar?
