Midway

INJ Units
-A6M2
-D3A1
-B5N2

Allied
-F4F
-SBD
-TBM

Mabey add the F4U-1 or F6F for the Allies and the A6m5b to the Axis to give a greater selection of planes to choose from.

B26s were also there. 4 B26B's were launched from Midway Island with torpedoes. They scored no hits and lost two of their bombers. http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avb26.html

So give the Allies unlimited B-26s because there happened to be 4 at the battle that flew with torps not bombs? That'll be historic. :aok  You should strap the Allies with the kate torpedo plane to represent the TBD Devastator, and give the Japanese the A6M5 to represent the A6M3 that was in service on the IJN carriers by that time.

I was thinking of going with Midway as a setup on the 28th of December.  However there might be some issues, that may deter using it in the AvA.

One being what if someone sinks all the IJN CV's?
Another being puffy ack....

To counter some of these,  I was thinking about the following settings..

1.) CV down time set to 2 mins....
2.) 10,000 lbs or more to sink CV.
3.) disable manned ack on CV's
4.) disable user control of CV's
5.) set ack at 1.25, to prevent milk running

Good stuff soda.

Also, the AvASML - is a small 64x64 map with two sides for air battles and one for ground battles.  There is also a bomber spawn on the top two vehicle bases at 10'000ft.  The idea is to offer a generic map that meets the current player size but allows strategic bombing targets, and a lower end tank battle environment.  Pretty neat!

I personally want to thank Easyscor for working on this map for the AvA.

Just an FYI... Skuzzy handles the terrains on the servers, but Pyro puts them on the downloads page. Getting Pyro to find time for this is rare, but it happens.

I'd like to see a Aluetians setup fudged a bit to allow for the planeset gaps.

Allied fighters would include the P38G and the P40E, vs the Axis A6M (leaning towards the 5b because the guns on the early zeke are horrible) and the Ki-61.   Include light/tactical bombers, possibly the boston or the B25C for missions.  Put in some low clouds to make the tactical situations a little more interesting, but include dot dar so players can run into each other in the haze.

I think thats what we run for the most part Soul, just not with the B-25s yet. The low cloud thing would be very cool. We had that on a map in AH 1, dive through the cloud layer with 4 109s on you and watch 3 auger.:D

A rough draft, generic 1944'ish North Sea campaign (also known as "Pining for the Fjords"):

Allies
CV Based:
Seafire
F4F
F4U-1
PT boats

UK Based:
Mosquito
Lancaster
Spit9
C47

Axis
CV Based:
PT boats

Norway & Denmark based:
109F4
109G2
109G6
110G2
190A5
190A8
C47
Ju-87
Ju-88

Ack at 1.0, fuel burn 1.0, capture 20 troops.

There are some air starts available for both sides for encounters over the sea.

Am I missing something important? (I would have loved to have something more specific with just Mosquitoes and FW's from a couple of bases, but that's more suitable to the Special Events activities - meaning Snapshots - IMO).

bkwolf, Japan is in the shop at the moment... Raptor is fixing up some of the textures that got goofy with the last update. It'll be back in rotation fairly soon. We also have a nice Luzon-Leyte map that Middog has put together, also due out very soon.
