outlook express issue
« on: December 05, 2007, 05:06:20 PM »
I'm trying to get outlook express settings and e-mails transfered to a new hard-drive.

my old HD was having some issues and I was running low on space so I installed a new drive and re-installed windows.

the old drive is still on the system, and after I get everything I need off of it I'll format it and use it for storage.

so I'm trying to get all my e-mails and account info and settings transfered over to the new system drive and not having much luck.

the file & settings transfer program only seems to want to work from one pc to another.

anybody know where the settings and old e-mails are stored.   can just copy and paste them from one drive to the other?   or is there some other way to get this done?

thanks

Outlook Express stores your mail and account settings to Windows\Profiles\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

Note that you might need to enable 'show hidden system files' option before you can access the mail storage in Application Data folder.

You can get the same settings and mails to your new windows by copying the whole OE folder CONTENTS and pasting it over the new computer's profile's appdata/ms/OE folders one.

Make sure you don't copy the new computer to old one though, that would make you lose all your data.
