Ive allways known it to be 500ft but people like staying 200 because it reduces the chance of people popping dar.

I know I am not hitech, but according to the trainers page http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/radar/radar.htm It's 500 feet AGL (above ground level).

it is 500FT i have tested it with others and 200FT is just a lower number to help keep the people below dar. as long as your 499Feet and under then you are under dar. no ands ifs or buts. check it out for yourself get a friend to do it with you cause you cant see your own darbar. have him watch the map. fly at 499 Feet and i bet you that there is no dar. :aok

Interesting... not sure but I was told 500' is under base radar.... 200' is no dar bar.

Probably told by the same people who said "Base supplies must land on concrete" or "Use purple text for range" :p

But seriously, altitude has always been 500' for both dot & bar dar.

You can check it offline. Open "Arena Settings".  MA's run by default settings.
There isn't even an option to give dot & bar different altitude levels.

Rgr. 499ft AGL or less means no DAR bar and no DAR dot.

I believe under 200' your icon tag is hidden by the terrain, and I think this led to some confusion regarding dots, bars, and icons. I used to hear "under 500' to stay off the dar bar, and under 200' to stay off dot dar" quite often, as far back as I can remember in AH1.

It's probably a carry-over from AW where it was always 200'.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

at 100 feet your icon is half way in the terrain at 50 feet it is fully in the terrain. :aok

RadarAlt (which I believe is the dot radar) & SectorCounterAlt (which are the sector counter bars, dar bar)...? But they both are 500 by default.

Heh, well I suspect most people don't need to know that as they are usually the same in every arena.

Just edited my post for clarity, you reply too fast. ;)

Most people in the MA's (where the dot and bar are set at the same alt) didn't participate in DGS... And it was said in the DGS rules. But I'm not disagreeing with you there.

What I meant was that the MA's, AvA, and I believe most SEA events have both the dot and the bar radar altitudes at 500 ft.
