Impending modem death?
« on: December 11, 2007, 03:40:56 AM »
I believe my ancient Lucent-based modem is giving up the ghost. As a replacement I've been eyeballing a Rosewill RC-403 Conexant-based 56k. Considering the age of this modem anything would be an upgrade, but I heard good things about this Rosewill. Does anyone happen to have much experience with either Rosewill or Conexant-based modems?

Thanks in advance,

PS: Rosco, I checked the mobo out while replacing the HDD last week. All looks to be okay; no swelling, no leaks, no cracks, and no goofy voltage readings.

May I suggest whatever modem you get, if your using it for gaming, get a EXTERNAL modem.

IIRC that's a Skuzzy recommendation?
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.
