Thrawn,

Using a taser with some range on it, and no wires to boot means that a suspect armed with a club, sword, knife, or other weapon can be taken down with less than lethal force without having to enter the weapon range of the suspect. It also allows Police to approach and use it in an area that is unfriendly to wires.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Whew, way to go, Sig, such restraint is admirable.  :)

Actually, tasers and rock salt are anything but a joke.  Serious issue to unload any such device on anyone.  Could elicit serious retribution.

That would be a great start.

Anyone stupid or crazy enough to try to come at someone holding a 12 guage with a club, sword, knife, or other weapon probably should be the recipient of lethal force.  However, I suppose you could just aim low....

Non lethal force.

Don't wound them (because they WILL sue you.)
Don't Kill them, (Their family WILL sue you)

Just hit em with the taser shell at 30 yards, walk over and PUT THE CUFFS ON.
Now all it needs is guncam footage so you can SEE what he was doing.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Justice?  You mean throwing a rapist in prison for two months and then letting him back out to see if he rapes another little girl?  Or perhaps locking up for two years a pair of men who murdered a mother in front of her children?

Or, on the flip side, giving that same two-year sentence to a mother of three children who throws a plastic cup of ice water at someone?  Yes, by all means, let justice be served.

The cop was out of line on that one. Judging from the video prefaced with the talk by his superior his career there is over and perhaps he should find another line of work.
