Yes very sad. However, it was less expensive to scrap them than to prep the planes and ship them home. 5 minutes after Japan surrendered, money became the primary issue....

I knew this would happen.....All because of the 38.....BTW it is hard to see any aircraft in the bone yard.   My father saw a line of F-105's rotting in the desert.  I have never seen him more upset.  Two tours in Nam in a Thud and live to tell about it, you tend to fall in love with an aircraft.
