Little Gifts for People Who Make a Difference
« on: December 13, 2007, 02:38:57 PM »
Are you all being good elves and taking a little extra care during the holidays of the people who help make your life better all year long?

Some people have grown accustomed to tips and goodies during the season, but don't forget those who don't expect much from customers, e.g., special store people who over the years have given you good deals.

I felt real Santaish with Subway gift cards to some favorite mall vendors, e.g., watches, carpets, candy.  Don't overlook the people who give you good deals and special consideration.

Two Years ago I walked past a BMW parked outside a Bank in the cold, cold Winter rain. It had a ticket under the windshield wiper because of the Red Flag on the meter.

The Officer writing tickets was just two cars down from the BMW still writing tickets. I thought to myself... man this sux.

Obviously the owner of the Beemer was inside making a Financial transaction on this cold wet day so close to Christmas.  The Police Officer looked really cold and wet... waiting for his Day to end.

How could I make both of these people happy?

It dawned upon me and the Spirit of Christmas shown like a light... Surely if I could bring these two together their life would change.

I put a Quarter into the Meter and waited for the Beemer owner to exit.
He did and upon seeing the ticket on his car, time on the meter... he intoduced himself to the Police Officer.

I stayed in the freezing rain just long enough to know that I had made an impression that day.

I left before Backup arrived.

Merry Christmas to All.

:p

I did a Google on Leland Gaunt....

I, Sir, are a far better man than as such.

How could you ever place a man of my character within that of a daft resemblance?

Disappointment sets in, Life becomes Cold once more.

I'm just glad you haven't read the book or seen the movie Mac. Who knows what ideas from those might strike yer fancy. ;)

If I told you the "Mothers Day" Story... you would think I am too Evil.

I do have a great imagination and a fast moving mind. I hate that some think they can get over on others. I have always been for the Underdog.

This thread demonstrates what we already know: Aces High consists of way more imps than elves.

Come to think of it, one member on our regular gift list was naughty this year.  I joked about sending her a lump of coal, but that might be too mean for the offense.

Not to worry, our mall vendors never miss an opportunity: the book store has chocolate lumps of "coal" for $1.95 each.  That way the recipient can wonder if you really meant it.
