I guess the real question is what do you love so much about it?

Not being a smarprettythang or anything, but I'm curious.

So many other planes out there....why do you love the LA-7 so much?

Flying the La-7: A Beginner's Guide

Method A

1. Take off
2. Climb to about 15k
3. Approach target area
4. Enter dive into furball 10k below you. Do not reduce throttle
5. Auger into the ground.

Repeat steps 1-5

Method B

1. Take off
2. Climb to average altitude
3. Approach target area at roughly equal altitude, or a slight advantage.
4. HO first target
5. Extend one sector, then reverse
6. HO next target
7. Extend one sector, then reverse
8. HO next target
9. Extend one sector, then reverse
10. HO next target
11. If at any point an enemy reverses and is on your tail, proceed to drag them. Immediately after your opponent pulls off, reverse for a shot at their back. Repeat as needed until you get a HO, or your opponent runs of of gas due to his inability to run you down, or successfully disengage because of your speed.
12. If pursued by multiple enemies, run to the nearest friendly Horde, pack of Ostwinds, or field ack
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

It is a nice ac ............. what it does best is give you choices...................but it does not do everything.

It gets a bad rep here because its good at the worst of things as well as the best of things.

Sounds like a Tale of Two Dweebs;

"I flew the La7... It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."

"I stop flying the La7... It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done... "

Charles Dickens 1859.

Just joking, sorry, couldn't help notice the similarity in your text to Dickens :)

To answer the question though, the La7 is first class. It is fast enough to allow you to pick your fights and stay out of trouble and for those who actually try to turn in it, it turns much better than you might expect. The only downside is that the aircraft's qualities make it the plane players love to hate, so when you fly into a furball the La7 will always attract a lot of attention.

lol look this argument has surfaced everytiime in relation to this plane let me break it down for you, so you can at-least have the oppertunity to understand..

#1 fly your plane to its strengths

#2 kill the nme

simple, get off it guys, I hate La's to, but you aint gonna hear me whine about it, ho'rs suck, and they usualy dont land kills anyway, so learn to avoid it.

Can I give the guy a sincere answer?  Is that allowed?:p

I think the La-7 is not at its best as a furballer.  It's out turned by the Spitfires, and since they are so numerous, that's a problem (for that matter, even the spit isn't flown best as a furballer).  The best thing about the La-7 (besides the cannons) is its acceleration and top speed at low altitude.  It also climbs great up to 10k.  For these reasons, you should spend a lot of time diving on lower targets, zooming away, and then using instantaneous turn (as opposed to sustained turn) to finish off your targets.  If you get into trouble, you merely have to put the nose down, hit WEP, and accelerate away.  You can outrun any non-perked aircraft below 5k ft, including the P-51D, 190D and 109K.

Acceleration and top speed, and it rolls decently as well.
Ballistics are so-so, lethality is however good.
A 109 makes a fun fight with a Lala....and a La-5 vs La-7 as well...
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Learn throttle control and you can surprise many for a few turns.  Most just assume they will not be in a turn fight with an LA so they hesitate a bit before realizing "This crazy LA is actually slowing down and turning with me!"

The fact that noobs actually make it home more often in LAs makes them popular with new guys.  I rarely fly one unless I want to run down a specific enemy in a fast bird (usually backfires for me) or a last ditch base defense to get to town and kill an M3/goon or troops.

As far as targets, it's good at killing whatever plane is below it, deacking, goon hunting when the skys are red, and ....yes...hoing, if thats your thing.

What it's not good at is helping you learn the art of relying on your situational awareness & E management to get out of sticky situations.  The "point down and run" defense.

What I like about fighting LAs is that if I meet one alone and co E, I have to win because I can't run away.  I fly medium speed birds and it's fun to know there's no free pass home.

The LA boosts the fun for many so I have no problem with it.  I like seeing them and fighting them.
