Might be an exploit of the collision detection bugs.  I don't think you could rely on the roof playing along, so he would more likely have launched off the bushes nearby or something.

in pos 2 of any tank, hit the Z key, then [ or ] to zoom in and out.

press the Z key then use the bracket keys "[" and "]" to get closer or further back.

'Z' key to zoom.  '['  and  ']'   keys to adjust zoom.  Arrow keys to fine tune.  

But remember, this is super secret so don't tell anyone.
