here are my specs

amd 3000+ cpu
1gb ddr
radeon 9200
windows xp media center

i cant get the friggen game to open!

downloaded the file twice thinking maybe the first one got fluffied up...

and this is on a fresh windows install

Radeon 9200?Make sure you have 4.12 catalyst drivers, not above.

ive tried my 9200, 9550, and 9800xt

i can only get the game to run on the 9550 but all the text windows in the game, and message windows in the lobby ect are all garbled up and distort intermitently...

and im running the newest catalyst driver from amd.com

Run a DxDiag, (Start>Run>Type in: dxdiag>OK. Press "Save All Information". Afterwards open the file you just saved and copy everything from the top down to the Sound Card details. Once you did that paste all of that information in a post here.) it will help us determine what's causing the problem.

the newest drivers aren't always the best drivers, thats why the 4.12 were suggested. They are a good set of drivers and will run most ATI cards well. Remember to remove the old drivers each time you change a card or drivers.

4.12 drivers do the same thing...

i think it has something to do either with the OS, or possibly this motherboard just doesnt like ATI cards

What were the settings that you selected when you first launched the game?

These are the settings I used:

Video Resolution: 800 x 600
Preload in System Mem: UNCHECK
Hardware Vertex Processing: CHECK
Optimize Objects: CHECK
Optimize Terrain: CHECK
Max Texture Size: 256
Max Frame Rate: Unlimited

If you need to bring up this page again (Which loads before AH launches.) Go to: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\Settings\

Now delete the file "video8.cfg" The settings page should now re-appear on launch of the game.

4.12 driver made it worse, so im going to go back to the one that semi-worked and see if i can tweek the settings

man this is really annoying, im never buying another ATI card again, ive always been a big ATI fan and heard people gripe about drivers. i always thought they could have been better but now i know what all the fuss is about. this is simply just rediculous....

im also having ALOT of system crashes completely non-game related, usually in the first 10 minutes of using the computer it will just crash ranomly. the screen will turn off, then back on sorta, then off, then back on and everything is pastel and neon colored and completely garbled

Are you sure you cleaned out all the old drivers? I ran my 9800 card for years, and just switched over to an 850X card and haven't had any troubles.

Use a program like "driver Cleaner Pro" and wipe the slate clean, and reinstall one card. Be sure ALL of your fans are running, and the is no dust build up in the cooling fins on the heat sinks under the fan motors.

To me , you either have driver issues because you didn't clean out the old drivers, or maybe a heat issue with bad fans or blocked fins. One other thing might be a weak power supply, Be sure the one you have is rated high enough to handle the card you are trying.

i tried the driver cleaner pro and removed everything ATI

then reinstalled the 4.2 catalyst and i have the same problems....

right now im on the onboard video without the driver installed and its painfull...

i also tried removing one stick of ram in case it was a memory problem, still the same, so i tried the other stick by itself too and same (kingston hyper) so i tried some registered memory, same thing... so its definately not a memory problem

i also tried bumping the AGP voltage up a tad, same results....

also tried bumping cpu voltage up a tad, same results, and i also tried bumping both up and same...

im out of ideas here, i reset the bios again and its still just the same

and i also just tried running both the Omega and the DNA drivers from guru3d.com and using the driver cleaner, and still nothing...

i also installed the new VIA agp drivers...

a friend of mine is going to bring a geforce2 GTS over and see if that will work... if it does the same thing it must be a problem with the AGP or motherboard....

only thing i havent done is update the bios but who knows if that will do anything

I'm using my wifes' comp until I can get a new motherboard and video card. It's a 3.2 prescott with a radeon X550, It's running XP Media Centre on 512mb of ram, on board AC97 sound.
I can run AHII on full graphics at ~60 FPS with no issues.

Is it a system crash or the screen turning off? If it's the screen turning off check to ensure the power and the data cables are securely fastened to the monitor and the outlet / video card. I've had mine shut off on me before because the cables were loose on the monitor.

If it's the system crashing it sounds like you have a virus on board. Try the free scanner in the link below. It picks up viruses and spyware that AVG and Norton hasn't found on my computer. (Please note that I only use AVG, however I previously had Norton and it did not detect the viruses. Therefore there were no AVs interfering with one another when I was performing the scans.)
