While I'm disappointed to see so many parents who are happy to let the computer babysit their children 16 hours a day, having interacted with their kids, I understand.

You have it backwards Hub, their kids are the way they are because the parents let the computer babysit them for 16 hrs a day.

Unfortunately, it could be postulated that the kids are the way they are because their parents let us babysit them.
